Despite being the eighth seed, Ron Artest has labeled his Sacramento Kings as a team to beat in the Western Conference.

The defending NBA champions may have something to say about that.

The San Antonio Spurs begin defense of their title by hosting Artest's Kings in a first-round matchup.

Artest greatly changed the fortunes of a struggling Sacramento squad Jan. 25, when he arrived in a trade from Indiana. The Kings picked up their defensive intensity and finished 26-14 with the mercurial small forward in the lineup to make the playoffs.

``I don't even think we're the underdogs any more,'' said Artest, one of the best defensive players in the NBA. ``I think we're the team to beat, just by how we've been playing.''

I think the kings are gonna come out fireing and surprise the kings. however they will win 4 in a row after that. Spurs always end up losing at least one game, doesnt matter who its against.

Kings are the Nuggets of last year.Gonna be a fun series for the Spurs.

If everything plays out like it should, Spurs are gonna have it tough..Kings, Mavs then Suns....

Hopefully the Grizzlies come to play at least the first couple games.If they can steal one that could be an interesting series too.Mavs I think will win but hopefully the Suns present something if the Clippers come back to earth.

They wont be able to hang if they dont stop or slow down Parker(Or anybody)for that matter.Parker had 16 in the first quarter.Our bench is crazy!!

The Spurs know how to turn it on at the right time. Everyone was saying that they were going to struggle beating the Kings. At this rate, it looks like an easy sweep.

No but it was close. They'll get at least 110...and win by at least 20. No bets made though.
