Stallworth to New England

Thank Goodness!

I'm glad we didn't sign him at that price. (6 yr 30 mil) Wayyyyy to much for an injury prone #2 guy who is one joint away from a suspension.

It's a one-year $3.6 million deal (with an option to cut him before opening day at a cost of $1 million).

If the Pats like what they see after a one-year try-out in their system, they can trigger a 5 year, $29.5 million deal with $11.5 million guaranteed starting with the 2008 season. They have to make that decision by February 25th next spring.

If they don't trigger the 5-year extension, they just release him and wipe their hands free and clear.

It's basically a one-year rent-to-buy deal for $3.6 million.

A Polished Turd!!!

I'm glad we didn't sign him too!! He's been pretty much overrated and injured his whole career!!But you know how ESPN and NFL Network is. If Belichick signs him, it's a genius move!! It will be nice when we draft LaRon Landry to knock his *** out of service again!!! HE'S JUST AN OVERRATED POTATO CHIP!!!!!

Sounds like another good deal for the Patsies. Now we're going to have to get a corner that can cover him. Provided of course that Brady doesn't get knocked on his butt before he can throw.

Im not worried. New recievers learning new things. Put pressure on Brady and he will crumble regardless.

this deal obviously shows the risk of this guy. I just dont get the onslought of need at WR for NE when they have two first rounders. It would not surprise me if Stallworth is not playing come early September.

They needed Welker as a slot receiver/returner to replace the role played by 37 year old Troy Brown.

They've been trying to add a burner ever since Belichick got there, striking out with draft picks Tony Simmons, Bethel Johnson, and Chad Jackson. Stallworth give them 4.25 forty speed and five years of solid production at the NFL level (average 47 catches, 6 TDs).

Best guess is that they might use the two first rounders on an inside linebacker and a DB. But, frankly, they could line up tomorrow with what they have, so they can draft best player available without being locked into specific positions.

I was hoping for him too sign.

What oter choices in FA are left? Has washington been signed yet?

Hopefully Stallworth doesn't stay healthy all year, I have seen Brady do more with less!

Man..the only reason i wanted him, is so chambers could go back t othe slot, hwre he dominated.

Washington was my choice anyway.. but it said last week we had a contract ready for him and haven't heard anything since.. so who knows!!

With an greatly improved Receiving corps team aren't going to have the luxury of stacking 8 in the box on us this year. They can but Brady will make them pay. Stallworth will require a double team and with Caldwell, Gaftney, Watson and Welker Brady will have plenty of options for outlets.

this is great news..i never wanted this guy...he is always hurt and has never lived up to his potential...with all the good wr's in the draft this year we can draft 1 of them...we should sign hamlin and maybe the best OL available right now....after that save our $ for the rookies come draft day...
