Stand-Out Rooks

Unfortunately my time machine broken as hell or I'd pop 2 months into the future and tell you

Haha. Yeah, I’d wait for the pads to come on at least. I mean it’s great to hear about guys making progress early on, but we really don’t have a clue until training camp starts.

Love all the reports though. Gotta give @TXFinFan a huge shout. You guys help keep me away from Twitter and I greatly appreciate that.

Which rookies have stood-out at camp?
Curious 🤔.

I suspect you'll get few answers and those will be couched. we've all seen rooks look great in OTAs or actual practice only to never succeed in the NFL or never get to the 53. A few have flashed and I hope they continue - it happens (e.g., Zack). For now, all we have is flashes.

Here’s Omar’s thoughts…and UDFA wise the 3 I’ve seen getting the most praise are BJ Adams and Theo Wease/Andrew Armstrong, so if you are looking for a diamond in the rough that has a chance to make the team I’d look there, along with Jaylin Conyers and Addison West.

Most impressive rookie: Jonah Savaiinaea Because there are no pads on players during the offseason work, I can’t testify that the Dolphins’ second-round pick has what it takes to be a bona fide NFL starting guard. The intensity of trench plays goes up a decibel or two when the pads come on, and another decibel or two when it’s an opponent hitting you, and not a teammate. What I can say is that the role of replacing Robert Jones doesn’t look too tough for the former Arizona standout, whom the Dolphins are putting in position to become a Day 1 starter.

Edit: here’s the one I saw on Wease

Not a rookie, but I read Grayson Murphy's name come up positively from several different writers, though it was apparently against players near the bottom of the roster. That's peaked my interest, because he was productive in college, despite subpar length and measurables.

Another non-rookie, Isaiah Johnson, appears to have had a nice start too.

By most accounts, the defense has looked strong up front, despite Sielernot really participating.

At the end of the day, none of this matters until the real physical activity starts.
