Dolphins defensive end Randy Starks was arrested over the weekend for aggravated battery of a police officer. Starks’ lawyer is now claiming that the allegations are motivated by racial bias.

”What’s alleged in the arrest report didn’t happen,” lawyer Ed O’Donnell told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “It’s ludicrous. This is a decent guy who was arrested for one reason — he’s in a big car, and it’s a bunch of black guys in the car.”

O’Donnell also takes issue with the officer’s math. The police report states that 13 people were riding in the four-passenger Freightliner tractor. According to O’Donnell, the officer accidentally included four pedestrians in the calculations made after the arrest was made

Well we dont know the whole story yet but they said starks almost ran over a cop.

and the mess gets uglier. So a white guy with a woman sitting on his lap while he's driving wouldn't have been stopped, we're supposed to believe?? That's it, parade the race card & now if the Dolphins cut him they look like they're persecuting the martyr too and it was all just SO unfair. Oh, the poor dear mr. starks, establishment hates him. CUT THE MORON anyway.

Racism? Maybe..

Whats up with Kershaw in the car too? I didn't realize he was apart of this. Lets see if he's got Randy's back in the trial..

If Starks is in a semi, it's hard to identify one stuffed with 10+people in it.. I mean their tall, not many windows, tinted..
I believe the lawyer when Randy says he didn't realize the officer was tapping on the door at first, no way the officer was tapping on the window...

So first the officer must have noticed multiple bodies moving in the car and probably counted a bunch, then recognized the race of the people and then pulled them over?
I think the officer would have pulled over a semi with a bunch of people no matter what color they were, thats shady looking.

What i can't understand is why Starks drove away once he had realized the cop was there... That's straight stupid. At this point the officer probably thinks Starks is drunk, and harboring stuff in that big semi. Once he's escaping its on..

If Starks would have stayed parked and taken the ticket or whatever fine it was that would be nothing compared to what reprocussions he will face due to him speeding away from the officer. It says he's being charged with aggrevated battery on an officer with a minimum of 5 years.

Depending on whats true and not, i see him getting anywhere from no jailtime to 2 years in jail with that possible 5 year sentence, if the police report is most true.

I want Starks playing, he's really good, but you can't do that. It's very bad judgement on his part. If he's found guilty he'll be cut no questions asked. If he's not charged with the aforementioned crime than I'd love to see him playing on Sundays. We had a pretty sexy group of DE's

There's a lot in the police report that doesn't make sense. If Starks wanted to hit or injure the cop, why didn't he? No injury. Perhaps the cop thought he was being attacked when Starks driving that big rig didn't even see him. Crazy tough to drive something that big, much less in SoBe traffic on hip-hop weekend.
I don't put too much stock in what the lawyer says although it makes more sense in some ways than the police report.
Lots of witnesses.
Big pluses: no DUI, no drugs, no resisting arrest.
I'd be surprised if Starks does jail time. Very surprised.

TAKE IT TO THE SUPREME COURT!
This is sure to be a Landmark case!
Plessy V. Ferguson, Brown V. The Board of Education are all child's play to the precident this case is sure to set!
Finally we can all realize Martin Luther King Jr's dream for all men to "drive in a overpacked semi, with a woman betwixt you and the steering wheel!"
God Bless America!

Idiot. Just admit to what happened. Fight the "assault" charges (they are probably bogus), and for the sake of everything intelligent, don't play the race card.

Is it just me or is it the case that whenever a black NFL player is arrested, he cries racism?

It's madness.

No one is above the law (superstars - actors, athletes, etc..)
But, I don't really know what happened and unless you were in south beach that night, you probably don't know the whole story.

Pros
1) If that truck is really 15 ft tall, maybe he could not hear the officer
2) Maybe there was no woman on his lap
3) Was it a Ford F450 that they called a Freightliner?

Cons
1) Was he drinking and driving?
2) Was he ignoring the officer on purpose?

It's not the first time that a cop has been accused of being racist. Stuff like that happens everyday. Can't we all just get along?

Doesn't anyone else find is odd he was driving a Freightliner tractor????? WTF??? What morning do you wake up and say "Self we have some extra cash let's go buy a semi!" hahahhaa.

This is why all police cars should have cameras in their cars and always on at all times. This another classic example of he said, she said. Is the cop exagerating the situation............................maybe, Is starks exagerating the situation..............maybe. Either case if there was a camera running there would be probably be less doubts. Starks may of had the music cranked up so loud that he could not hear someone knocking on his door with a hammer. The girl might of been fidgetting in his lap and making him swerve like he was drunk. The windows might of been down with peoples extremities hangng out of the truck.

I have not read the report but does it say why the officer approached the vehicle to begin with?
