Starting a rookie right out the gate really never works out.So that leaves McCown and Beck.Even if Josh has a better camp,why start him?he gives us a better chance to win some games.True.But we were 1-15 so were not gonna improve that much no matter who is in.Whats the absolute ceiling with McCown?8-8 would prob be a miracle.Lets start with Beck and see what he's got!There might be a good quarterback there.Give him 6 games no matter what.Then if hes complete garbage,then go with the vet or the rook.We have been too short sighted the last few years with all the regime changes and what not.We need a REAL plan to build a FOUNDATION for a team.There is absolutely no point to starting McCown.he is what he is.A soso QB in the past with better weapons than what we have right now.Start Beck and give him a real chance to succeed.Then if he isnt,move on to Henne.Then if Henne isnt,move on to...we know this story!

I agree we should start Beck because we need to know what he's got. But I also think we should start him because I believe he is a better QB than JM.

We should start who shows the staff who is the best qb. People write off McCown because he has started before but when has he ever had a very good team around him. Not saying McCown will be good but I dont think we gain anything by having a competition and starting a guy that does not deserve it whoever it may be. Hell we might as well start Beck the first 6 games, McCown the next 6 and Henne the final 4 if we wanna see what everybody has. McCown is 29, Beck 27(aug) and Henne is 23 we lose nothing by starting any of these guys that is determined best. Yes last year we lost alot by starting a guy that everybody knew was not going to hold up and is clearly on the downside of his career. We might as well had started Lemon week 1.

Beck is the perfect fit for this team; he represents everything the organization and parcells stands for.
I think what you're saying between the lines, is that as our starter Beck is as deserving as Culpepper is of being unemployed. Well, I disagree at least about the Beck part. :sidelol:
IMHO, I think it will Beck, then McCown, then Henne. Henne will replace McCown for the back up sometime during the season. That is my gut feeling, which together with a token will get you on a subway. That's how I feel it will play out.

I think Beck will start as well but i for one think that the camp is actually open for grabs for any of the 3 young QB's. I def say henne has no chance to start at any point in the season but Mc Clown may prove to be a better option than Beck if he can just be consistant .

You think he has more around him now than he did in AZ? They had a good RB and fantastic WR corps. Not sure about the Oline though.
I'm a Beck supporter but if McCown outplays him in preseason then he should start IMO...

Some QB's just suck but you cant just write off a QB cause of lack of success because of little stints or chances. He hasnt gotten a full start anywhere with any consistancy, hes not joey harrington and maybe if he is in the right system can flurish. Who knows tho maybe he is a career backup

Yeah I agree. But I thought he was given every chance in the world with AZ. Maybe not though. I would love to see McCown play great for us. Hell, I would love to see any of our QB's to play great.

I tend to want Beck as well because I want to see what he can do with a real chance having actually been coached and having more than 0.002 seconds to throw the ball. That having been said, I would not be upset at all if McCown pulled a Rich Gannon on us this year.

just like our last qb's from lucas - aj feeley i wanted all of our qb's to amount to something. that doesnt mean i had the feeling that they were gonna suck, i had that feelin for joey as soon as he got here among others. Josh still has hope in my eyes he has some good tools to work with.

The one year he started all year Boldin was out for the year. Neither Warner or Leinhart have led the team to any brighter pastures. Thier oline and running game were not good.
Im glad you are sensible in your last statement, for people to want to start a player that is out performed really strikes me as odd. Both Beck and Henne could be busts we just dont know the future. Some very talented, smart qb's have failed to become good qb's.
