I'm getting a laugh from all the "nerdy" comments.
Josh, believe it or not, can probably bench press more than 85% of the rest of the team.
He is a quality athlete.
He has had to play on really bad teams but for those of you out there thinking that he will only get the start until Beck is ready, you need to step back and re-examine your position.
I believe Josh will not only start the season but he will start the entire season unless he gets hurt (and even then you better hurt him bad).
He is still young by quarterback standards and once you see what he can do when given the opportunity, you will forget all those other statements.
He has been assured a fair competition for the starting job (meaning he and Beck get to work with the 1st team the same number of reps). There is no "behind closed doors" assurance of Beck being the starter.
I would hope that Miami fans would want the best QB to start no matter what his name might be. When he gets the start, it will not be because he is "expendable" or anything else. It will be because he is the better QB period.
You might want to hold some opinions until you at least see him on the practice field. Given the opportunity, he will impress.
By the way, Denny Green (former Cardinals coach) spent major money to bring in Warner and so he was pressured to play him. This after stating that Josh would be his QB. That year, Josh threw for 2 of the top 5 games for league QB's. When traded to the Lions, he was promised a QB competition with Kitna for the starting job. This promise was taken back and Kitna was named the starter before camp began. Josh then had to work with mostly 2nd string. With the Raiders, he beat out Culpepper for the starting job. The only time he was out last season was because he was hurt. He never lost the starting job. Russell was only given brief work and that was mostly for the fans. Now in Miami I believe he will be given a fair opportunity at QB. I believe Miami wants to win. Let's just see what happens and cheer for the guy who gets the nod.
