I have no problem with giving Alabi his chance. I do not want to move LJ Shelton or Vernon Carey. Consistancy at O line is important and Rex and Lj and vernon started to Gel at the end of the season. The real reason I wrote this post was to talk about Adam Goldberg do you think were waiting untill the last possible day to try to make it hard on St.Louis to match or do you think the rumor that we would make him an offer was false. I would love to see him compete with Alabi.

Who's Adam Goldberg?

Backup Lt for the Rams, he played when Orlando Pace went down and played well. He is a restricted FA but wouldn't require any compensation if he signed.

Since LT is such an important position, I think the Fins need a quality player there. Maybe that's Alabi, but sometimes guys who look good in practice don't look so good when they play regularly. Maybe they're going to take Levi Brown from Penn State with the #9 pick.

I'm surprised that the Fins haven't brought in a few FAs for the OL positions (other than Lehr). Usually, once you get picks beyond the top half of the first round, it's not realistic to expect rookie OL prospects to step right in and become starters.

I would rather not drat Levi and start Alabi there.

i think we need to go young...levi looks like a great pick at 9...but if we do sign a lineman, we can go for a playmaker on offense or a Defensive player in the draft

This is the first I've heard of us being interested in Goldberg, is that just a hunch or are we actually interested in the guy? If he filled in well for Pace then he might be a decent player who just needs an opportunity rather than being stuck on the depth chart behind an all-pro.

My thoughts on Alabi are that if we are gonna give him his chance at LT, it is now or never. We drafted the guy knowing that he was gonna be a project, but everything I read said that the guy could develop into a starting LT with proper coaching. Well, its been three years of tutelage under supposedly the best OL coach out there and still no word on whether the guy is starting material. If he isn't ready after three years of practice and coaching, when is he ever gonna be ready. Either give him the job or get him off the team.

I'd prefer us to trade down in the first and pick up Joe Staley, however it isn't always that easy. I'm not sold on Levi Brown as a franchise LT.

There was an article a few weeks ago stating the dolphins were interested in RFA's Adam Goldberg(T/G Rams) and Terrance Copper(WR Saints).

Actually it's only been 2 years. This will be his third season. But the position does need to be filled immediately, so if it's not him, we'd better find someone quick!

I think if Houck believes Vernon can become an elite LT in this league . . . he should be given the opportunity . . . . yes chemistry is important . . . but more important is having the best player @ LT, playing that position. Hopefully we have a solid LT in Alabi . . but I would much rather be safe at LT and a bit suspect on the right side than the other way around.

I think Houck and Cam will bring in sufficient enough talent to be able to put the best guys in the right spot on this line.

Draft Levi at # 9 and your set for 10 Years. We need to stop ignoring the left tackle position and draft someone who can play.

I thought Alabi was considered RT stuff. Haven't they said were going to experiment with some shuffling in camp this year. How about this lineup.

RT..Alabi
RG..Shelton
C...Satele
LG.Levi Brown
RT..Vernon Carey
