Steelers want hampton back

With the Pittsburgh Steelers still committed to running a 3-4 defense and nose tackle Casey Hampton still on track to become an unrestricted free agent in a year that is still on pace to be uncapped, team president Art Rooney II has made his position on Hampton clear.

The Steelers still want Hampton.

"That will be part of our offseason plan, figuring out the best way to do that and how to handle Casey," Rooney told Scott Brown of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review on Friday. "We'll get into others and make some decisions about what we can do contract-wise with various other players."

Highly doubt we get Hampton. Steelers will franchise him or someone will over-pay for him.

So if Wilfork, Hampton and Franklin all get franchised as expected, then I guess we're just re-signing Ferguson and drafting a NT? Maybe Dan Williams at 1.12 if Dez and McClain are gone?

Not sure why people wanted Hampton. Why sign a big name NT above 30 years old and to dish out cash to a guy who has passed his prime? If one lands in Miami, which I don't think will happen, It'll most likely be Wilfork.
