http://dailydolphin.blog.palmbeachp...ms-nonprofit-to-combat-racism-discrimination/Dolphins owner Stephen Ross plans to unveil a nonprofit group Friday featuring athletes including LeBron James to combat racism and discrimination, The New York Times is reporting.
The Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality plans to begin running public service announcements during this weekend’s football games that will include Stephen Curry, Larry Fitzgerald and Tom Brady.
The Times said the “genesis” for Ross’ initiative came from the 2013 bullying incident involving Jonathan Martin and Richie Incognito. Martin accused teammates of directing racial slurs at him.
Ross also addressed discrimination issues in Michigan and said, “I thought when all the events happened, I could either bury my head in the sand or do something about it.”
He added, “Sports is the common denominator in the world that brings everyone together.”
Ross has gained support from the NCAA, Major League Baseball, NHL and NBA for his initiative.
Proud of the Dolphins owner for stepping up and taking initiative on this.
