There's no correlation between football knowledge and being a good businessman.
That said; it's definitely mind-boggling that it's seems Ross has trust in the coaching staff.
Said it two weeks ago. That's exactly why he retained philbin after last weeks game. He didn't want an 8-8 season, joes job up in the air and harbaugh out there. Fans would look to him to get harbaugh and he wants him at Michigan. He avoids going through a phony attempt to get him here and the scrutiny involved by simply retaining philbin last week. That's why the timing was what it was

"Knee Jerk" 3 years seem like a knee jerk reaction? What about Ross's knee jerk reaction of extending Sparano after totally messing up pursuit of Harbaugh. Would u admit that it's dumb for an NFL owner to think he can fly cross country to interview a HC candidate without the press being notified. Then be embarrassed and shamed enough to give a crappy coach an extension when it becomes public knowledge. Sounds dumb to me.
Joe Philbin should've been coaching for his job today but Ross messed that up by getting caught up in the emotion of a comeback victory at home against a garbage Vikings team and announcing he will be back next year. Sounds dumb to me.

You think someone that gives $200 million to a school might want the best HC available to be in place at that school? I've been to Ann Arbor. Ross's name is a lot more admired there than any other place in America. He will always be a Michigan alum. 1 day he won't own the Dolphins

That day can't come soon enough.
Maybe he figures he can sell travel packages next year. Put together game tickets and flights and hotels from Boston or New York or where ever. Maybe for out of state fans he could throw in a chance to meet Dan Marino or something as well. I can't figure out how he is going to get regular fans at the games.

Stephen Ross doesn't disappoint does he? Is there any doubt now that this guy just doesn't have a clue about running a team. I stand by my original statement that this is 1 dumb guy outside of the real estate/tax business. Does any team have a more ****ed up FO structure? A football czar that can't fire the HC??? It seems Ross is in love with needless bureaucracy. Just can't see any coach/GM candidate of any substance wanting to come here now. If he gave Tannenbaum the authority to fire/hire the HC this wouldn't be so bad. Of course Ross doesn't do this. The guy is just clueless
