Stephen Ross

This Ross diatribe is little more than a futile circlejerk provoked by someone who rolled into FH less than 2 weeks ago!!

The reality is that as an owner Ross is better than some and worse than others. But all the pissing and moaning in the world amounts to nothing more than an exercise in futility as they mean nothing to effect an ownership change. And when one does finally come there is already a succession plan in place - so there's that too,

Extremely few people who buy NFL franchises are “football guys.” Ross has done wonders upgrading their stadium and game day experience, put his money where his mouth is and has stayed out of the way. While I disagreed at the time regarding hiring Tannebaum and promoting Grier, they are people that Ross knows well and trusts their football knowledge.

I like the fact that Ross is willing to try new things when the old way wasn’t working out. He’s been patient and willing to trust his football people. While he gets the ultimate blame when when the team isn’t successful, he’s definitely an above average owner imo

the team is trash therefore the owner is trash. trash coaches, trash GMs...whats to like?

If we have our Franchise Coach and Grier dose more than a decent job with the draft and FA Ross may start to receive praise from the fans

who knows how long Ive been around, brah

The most important aspect of what makes a great owner is, when it's time to spend the money, does he do so...With Ross the answer is a big YES.

He fails at finding the right people to make the decisions, but there is a chance (hopefully) this time around, he found quality people to run his Organization.

If he actually did hit on gold, then this is where in 5 years, someone like Ross is thought of as a top 10, top 5, or best owner in Football.
I totally agree that ownership should get much of the credit when the product they put on the field has success. This means the owner spent his money wisely by hiring the right people to help bring this success to the organization.
Of course the opposite is true when he spends his money on people who come in and the team doesn’t improve and it remains mediocre at best under the people he hired.

Hopefully Ross finally has hired the right people to turn this organization into a consistent winner. If he has, he will certainly earn the credit for hiring those individuals. Yet he can only be judged right now by the success on the field by his team since he took over ownership. So far those results have been less than impressive. As long as he owns the team he still has the opportunity to change the narrative on his effectiveness as an NFL owner. Yet it really never matters how much an owner is willing to spend his money. It only matters if the money he spends puts a quality product on the field and we are still waiting for Ross to show he can do that by hiring the right individuals. Only time will tell if hiring Grier as the GM and Flores as the HC were good decisions by Ross.

so an owner of a restaurant shouldn't understand the food business?
No. They should know they don't understand it and hand it to a GM that has a better understanding then they ever will because it's what theyir career is. Meanwhile they form a rapport with the GM and the GM only to grow their understanding over time. Owners who think they know what they are talking about and meddling are the worst owners. I've had a couple and literally walked away from blank checks in an attempt to retain me.

OP started all of this because he saw that Dwayne Wade wants to buy an.NFL team. New isn't better bud. New with no experience and limited cashflow is even worse.

When you say buy, you mean chip in a very small portion right?
Unknown. Something about him banding a group of investors together to buy a team or something.

My take is Ross has opened his wallet whenever was right on behalf of the team. Sure, the people he hired didn't do great but he's learned through the process and now seems to be standing on the precipice of building a championship team. We have a much massively improved stadium that is helping many people in S. Fla make bank this week and we're finally going to have training camp where it belongs which is next to the stadium. It think we're very much on the upswing.

It's amusing that someone living in this sports market could look at Ross, look at Loria/Sherman, and think that everyone is in the same universe as an owner just because we haven't been successful on the field.

Some owners like Loria literally took your money and stuffed it into their pockets. Ross's only affect on you is being unhappy on Sundays more often than you'd like.

Dwayne Wade estimated net worth in 2019 - $95M
Rick Ross estimated net worth in 2019 - $35M
Stephen Ross estimated net worth in 2019 - $7.7B - ie $7,700M

On these estimates, Mr Ross has over 70 times Dwayne Wade's net worth. Wade was an incredible basketball for the Heat. Rick Ross is a rapper. However, they are not in Mr Ross' financial orbit to consider purchasing the Miami Dolphins.

Like I said, something about him getting an investment GROUP together to buy a team.
