Giambi
Sheffield
Bonds
Palmerio
McGwire

Who PROBABLY took them
Sosa
Nomar
Juan Gonzalez
Gabe Kapler (left for Tokyo for christ sakes before returning)
Ivan Rodriguez

Who has had big drops in numbers from last year to this year when drug testing started (raising red flags)
Mike Lowell
Sean Casey
Kevin Millar
Steve Finley

Feel free to add to the list..............

(i am talking about "Name" players not these punch-n-judy guys that were getting caught)

You think Nomar took roids? Why?

Anyway, Carlos Beltran should be on the numbers drop list. Even though his name was mentioned eariler this year, Todd Helton has to be on that list as well. Sorry, he's had 30+ HR seasons since 99 (25 in 98 as a 2nd year player), and now 11 (and he plays at Coors, so 11 is like 5).

I forgot about Boone. Good one.

I think Nomar because his injuries in recent years are very "steroid" related. Muscle ripping off the bone is something that happens alot in Pro Wrestling, body building, and is very "steroid" related. That is why I have him on the "probably" list.

Helton, yes. Beltran I say no. He has had a bad wheel this year plus he was never a HR hitter and he is in a bad hitting ballpark. His numbers are off, but considering where he was hitting in recent years, take the fact he is now in a bad hitters park and his power numbers are really right on.

Nomar definitely took them, no question about it in my opinion. When muscle rips completely off a person's bone, I mean cmon, that doesn't happen to normal people. This isn't a piece of chicken, it's a human body, and that's just not normal.

Compare the Nomar of 1999 to the Nomar of now. Remember the Sports Illustrated cover photo? He was absolutely ripped. Now, and for the past few seasons, his body build doesn't even resemble that.

Also, Millar's drop in production could be a red flag. I tend to think that he just sucks in general, but I could see someone linking the two.

EDIT: Where's Tejada on this list? It might not be steroids, but he's definitely on something. Wasn't he brought up with Canseco? if so, which I believe he was, those guys should have BIG TIME red flags.

I think you're wrong about Kapler. Gabe is a known body building and is ripped as hell so I can understand why people say he could be on the juice. However he had reasons to go to Japan:

1.) Playing time, he was going to be an everyday starter
2.) Money. He was getting 2 million a year. That's probably 50% more then he'd make in the major leagues.

IF Kapler was on the juice then why would he come back? Because he's off then now? Then why wouldn't he just get off them in the fall and play in the US? Also where's Gabe's drop in numbers? He had 3 decent years with DET and Texas in 1999, 2000 and 2001 before he got hurt trying to catch a ball in the outfield and has never been the same and has since been just a 4th outfielder. I just don't buy the excuse that he went to Japan just so he could keep juicing because he's back now.

As for Millar  I seriously doubt he's ever been in a gym in his life. The only steriods Millar took is from eating KFC chicken because KFC injects riods into their chickens to make them grow bigger.

I'm surprised you didn't name David Ortiz since he's become such a monster hitting. (No I'm not saying he took them, I don't even question it)

Lowell def took them in my opinion. One of the reasons why the Red Sox wouldn't do an A.J. Burnett trade was because they didn't want Lowell due to the fact that "the new MLB durg testing policy really hurt him" as Larry L. said that on WEEI.

Oritz has been a monster straight through. No red flags around him. Plus he is a big guy in general I would think he is clean.

Story making the rounds is after last season and when the whole steroid thing was abotu to hit the fan Kapler went to Japan for around 9 months, got out of MLB, it takes around 9 months to get your system clear of them, and then surprise surprise he returns to MLB in the middle of this season. If he went to Japan for the money, why leave and return to MLB at the all star break????

You forgot to put Jeremy Giambi as people who took them. After all Jeremy is the poster boy for "Steriods don't gurantee you'll be good if you take them!"

He hated it there plain and simple. He didn't adjust to the culture and he had problems, overall just a bad experience. IF the story making the rounds is true it would be a HUGE gamble that a major league team would even try to resign him from Japan because it is very hard to work out deals with Japanese teams. I'm not sure if you remember how hard the Sox worked at trying to get Millar two years ago. It was a giant pain in the @$$. Kapler just got lucky the Japanese team he played for released him otherwise he might not have been back.

Miggy's production has been too consistent to raise any red flags in my opinion. He's has 6 seasons of .275, 30 HRs and 100 RBI's. He progressed along the path that young players takes. His numbers did'nt just explode.

As far as growing up with Jose...Miggy is Dominican and 30 years old while Jose is 44 and Cuban. They were never on the same team at the same time I don't believe.

Question when did MLB decide to start to test players? What was the date?

Everyone knew "something" was coming soon at the end of last season.

Does anyone know the date or even the month the announcement was made? The whole steriod testing thing started being talked about after the BALCO investagation and Canseco's book.

Another thing about the Kapler/riods debate.... I'm not sure if anyone has seen Kapler this year but he looks the exact same as he did all last year. He's still got huge arms, chest, legs and forearms. There's absolutely no physical difference to him like there was to Jason Giambi and IRod when they got off the juice.
