With all this crap about Danny not being the best QB, how does Young rate induction?

Sure he had some good seasons. He won a SB thanks to Jerry Rice. But what else has he done?

Not impressed at all. His stats are a fraction of Dan's. And people call him great?

Steve Young was a great QB and made the most of his opportunity when given the chance post-Montana. He played with great heart, won 3 MVP's, and kept the 49er's winning. The run against Minnesota is all you need to know about Steve Young: heart and determination.

I hate Steve Young, but he was great.

Steve Young was what Michael Vick dreams to be .

Steve Young was a fantastic QB. Anyone who could cause a QB controversy with Joe Montana on the same team (albeit nearing the end of his career) can't have been too shoddy. It's just a shame for him he didn't get into the right team and have the right opportunities until his career was half over.

I don't think you could go wrong having Young, Montana, Marino, Elway...any of those guys as your qb. As to who is a better QB, the only thing I can say is that Young and Montana had GREAT talent around them (at least when Young was in SF). Elway and Marino, by far, were more important cogs to their teams than Montana and Young...However, I'll state again...I'd take any of them in their prime on my teams.

Mike Vick ain't got nothin on Steve Young! The guy was fearless and wasn't afraid to get hit. He would hit dudes back if he had to. Imagine if he had Vick's speed, it would be lights out.

Dan Marino had the greatest arm. No question. But you have to remember that Steve Young sat patiently on the sidelines behind one of the greatest (in Joe Montana). He watched his prime years diminish while on the bench. Then he took over that role, and was just as great as Montana. He has the best pass rating out of any QB. He played the game the way it was supposed to be played.

Young was great, credit deserved.

It sometimes makes me think of how a lot of people say, well if X-Player had X-player on this team, well he would have won 10 Super Bowls.

This is by no means an attack on the organization of the Fins, but do you think the Fins organization SCREWED Marino for not getting the appropriate talent around him to get his Jerry Rice, or Terrel Davis, or Kellen Winslow. Or as I always hear, Marino never had a defense, was the front office so horrible they couldnt get anyting right? It's similar to "our" organization getting Ryan Leaf, it took years to get away from that nightmare and it took a complete overhaul of our GM's.

So fin fans, my question to you is: Is the Fins dynamic front office and the entire organization the REASON to blame for not getting talented players?
It always baffles me how people compare players and who they had around them, does this mean Denver had a better organization for finding Terrel? For 9ers finding Jerry Rice? For Pats finding Brady? For Chargers picking Brees instead of Jamar Fletcher? Etc...? Just a thought?

I have to realistic and say who knows how long young woudl have actually played if he had gotten to start earlier as he was terribly fragile when it came to the concussions and would have probably been out of football even earlier than he was if he had gotten his opportunity earlier!

This would warrant my "Reasons I think Don Shula was incompetent and screwed Dan" response but I am too tired to do all that typing right now...

Wow, someone makes a stupid comment about Marino, so you have to go make a stupid comment about Young. Real mature...

Steve Young was amazing thats all Im going to say, if you dont think so you didnt watch much football or any games of him playing, I think his completion percentage was around 70 percent and he can move.

Oh and it takes more than one player to win a superbowl and rice sure as hell didnt do it on his own.

Both QBs deserve to be in the HOF.

Speaking of Jamar Fletcher. He is playing wonderful during camp...but then again it is camp. Whispers around the park has him beating out Sammy Davis (which at this point in time is not much to say)...but hopefully he gets his confidence back and plays well...he seems like a very upstanding guy.

Fletch was'nt that bad a player...he was just drafted by the wrong team (us).

Why would you draft a zone corner for a team that NEVER played zone...Wanny's stupidity continues to mount as years pass...
