I wonder how many of those who still have 100% full faith in Saban will still have that same erection if we miss the playoffs again in 2007. That three year window is starting to creep shut.

Everything that goes right or wrong in the dolphins organization points back to Saban. That is how he wanted it, and IMO that is how it should be.

Regardless of who throws that TD, kicks the field goal or orchestrate a 4th qtr come back in the last minutes of the game...Saban will get that credit. So shall he get credit for the picks that are thrown or the defensive collapse in the second half.
It may not seem fair, but Saban wanted this.

I still think Saban can get this thing turned around. But I now have my doubts. Saban has a lot more tinkering to do with this team. He will need a bit of luck to get this team to the playoffs next year.

Three years and no playoffs would have to be considered a failure. I feel that even his strongest supporters will then begin to grow frustrated and have doubts that he can get it done at this level.

100% faith....not until he can prove it on the field....where it counts. When Shula became the headcoach....no one ran up and gave him 100% faith....he had to and DID prove that he knew what he was doing.

I never really had faith in him, i had hope when he first came here. I agree with fishypete, he's got to earn it. I have faith in JT & Zack to turn a game around, but that's because they've done it before. The same went for Danny boy, i always had faith in him because of his previous accomplishments. I think Saban is a very good coach, i think he can turn this franchise around, but before i put my complete faith in him, he has to prove he can do it.

Yes, complete faith.

This club was never going to be rebuilt after just two offseasons, anyway. The cupboard was too bare when he arrived, and in every respect. Salary cap, available draft picks, young talent, etc.. It was a mountainous job from the getgo.

If ownership allows him to depart for Alabama, by not giving him the proper backing this offseason, it'll set this franchise back for quite some time. Huge black eye.

Don't let it happen.

I had a lot of faith in him at the beginning of this offseason. That faith has steadily decreased due to a series of bad, bad personell decisions and coaching choices. Right now, I have zero faith in his ability to lead this team to a SB.

The Truth.

We're really at a crossroads here.

It boils down to Huizenga giving him the proper assurance over the next few weeks, in my mind. Nick went with Culpepper over Brees, primarily because our medical staff refused to sign off on Drew's shoulder. So now we're staring at a Daunte that's roughly a 50/50 prospect to ever regain his previous form. May or may not happen.

If it doesn't, we need to bite the bullet address QB through the draft, but developing a young quarterback brings inevitable growing pains. If Saban feels that year #3 is do or die, he may very well bolt because it's a lose lose scenario unless our front office gives him the longterm backing he'll need.

I repeat, if he does leave under the pressure of a shaky 2007, we'll have lost a very good coach. Our best find since Shula. I don't even want to think of who the other HC candidates are, and how long it'll take in yet another rebuilding scenario.

I for one don't buy into that medical staff stuff....Saban made his choice....it's that simple. Saban had every resource to figure out who was the best choice between Culpepper and Brees....he chose wrongly.
Andrews gave Brees a clean bill of health....compare Andrews to the Dolphins medical staff....it's a no brainer....Andrews wins hands down. Andrews performed both operations....would he promote one over the other....his rep is far too important....to screw around for just one player. Saban and the Dolphins chose the cheap way....didn't want to pay Brees....thats the way I see it.

He needs to have a good draft more than anything and go back the original plan he had when he got here. At the end of last year, the Fins fooled everybody (especially themselves) with the 6 game winning streak. This shifted the plan from a rebuilding mode to a 'win now' mode going into 2006.

They MUST take a QB somewhere in the draft. Let Randy Mueller do what he does best and find a QB. No more trading picks for recycled QBs!

Your right....but did we know that before hand....of course not. Shula was a young headcoach....coming from Baltimore.....of course after Wilson....Shula looked good....to the Dolphin fans.....but....you could have picked almost any new headcoach and have said the same.

Now what happens next year if C-Pep comes back and has a very good season? Does Saban then become a genious again? Some of us in here need to make an opinion and stick to it.

That's contrary to everything that was reported, and to what Saban himself has commented on the issue.

The Daunte/Brees decision was based almost entirely on medical information they received on both players. They felt the level of shoulder damage was far more risky longterm, so they chose to bank on a rebuilt knee instead.

As much as Saban covets draft picks, you think he was anxious to surrender a #2nd rounder in a trade?

They went with the odds. Unfortunately, it didn't pan out.
