Still almost 30 million in Cap.

I don't think there is much demand for Starks (age) or Patterson (health) so i'd try to resign those two on the cheap. Odrick , Mitchell and Starks would be a nice rotation. Patterson starts until the rookie is ready then moves inside. Draft a MLB like Mosley early and that's a formidable defense if you asked me.

UPDATE: It is being reported that Starks is close to being resigned. Good job Dawn and Hickey

I guarantee Hickey won't make the same mistake Ireland did and carry most of it forward, we will spend most of it leaving something south of $9 mill hopefully. Moore is likely a goner too so that should free up another $3.5 mill. It sounds like Starks will be signing soon so that will eat about $5 million which, with everything considered, leaves us with about $14 million to spend on adding a few more players.

So then NE has to spend big bucks on a guy who had a serious knee injury. love it. They will have to spend more than they want to get him. No longer scared of Revis. I actually think Grimes is now better.

This would tighten up NE salary cap in a hurry. They have to come out of it negotiating for something pricey that BB does not like at all. Revis wouldnt be long in NE IMO. BB would just end up trading him a year or two later. Its the MO of that guy.
Uh yeah, Revis was the top rated CB in the NFL last season while playing injured.

A billion dollars spent on player contracts in one day. Yeah, that CBA was terrible for the players.

question??? how do the Broncos sign all these big contracts and still be under the cap

Breno Giacomini (RT), and Wade Smith (OG). Set.

Fixed it for you.

All these resident geniuses who want to spend $14 mil per on an injured, past-sell-by head case just to keep him out of belicheat's hands. :rolleyes2:

i get that, but isnt manning in the books at 20 million/ season or something liket that, and now with all these huge contracts that their dishing out. they also have to sign their rookies too... yet we had/have been 35-40 million under the cap and we always seem to be fighting the cap... go figure...

The Broncos situation does seem a little odd doesn't it. Manning, Miller and Welker to name but 3 were probably not playing for peanuts, even before they made this big splash. They are also set up for a very short term win. They may win a SB this year or next, but after that they could very well end up with the first pick in the draft after the following year. Guess it's a smart way to do things, allows you to re-tool, regular mediocre 8-8 seasons get you nowhere.

absolutely, Denver is making another run at the Super Bowl while Manning can still play, as they should. when Manning retires that team is going to be in trouble anyway. he's masking a lot. doesn't matter if they're starting over anew, as long as they win a Super Bowl with Manning.

Broncos cheated the cap in the Elway SB years... They got busted, maybe they are doing it on the level now or maybe they are up to old tricks. Either way does not matter...

Miami had more than enough cap to sign players that could make an impact. I guess they did not see anyone worth it beyond the guys we signed or they did not want to sign with us.

I hope Miami gets a #2 CB (Browner) or Cromartie or DRC... But it looks like they will look to the draft and hope the guys drafted last year actually play this year???
