still want flynn if he is tagged?

Hell No, Flynn is not good. Wont be good and will set us back another year or two if we pick him up as the starter. He was an average QB in college. He had the one big game against the Lions secondary who was getting tourched by alot of teams at the time ( I should know i had them in fantasy). We should grab Peyton if he is healthy and if not try to reach up for RG3 which i doubt is really possible. I would rather have the packers 3rd string Grahm Herrell (sp?) over Flynn.

Colt Mccoy can play. Clevelend has no hope. Matt Flynn will fail in that god awful organization like everyone before him. Hopefully Colt can go somewhere and one day get the chance to play again for a real team.

There is a rumor that the Packers and Browns have begun trade talks for Flynn. The Packers would tag Flynn than trade him to Cleveland for a rumored 2nd round pick.

This rumor is false because Cleveland would have to give up 2 first round picks for a player under a franchise tag in 2012.

According to Artcile 10, Section 2(a)(i) of the new CBA:

"...if the Club extends the Tender [Franchise Tag] pursuant to this Subsection (a)(i), the player shall be permitted to negotiate a Player Contract with any Club as if he were a player subject to Section 5 below, except that Draft Choice Compensation of two first round draft selections shall be made with respect to such player in the event he signs with the New Club..."

Flynn to Cleveland makes sense because that would allow them to snag Blackmon or Richardson.

Valid points. I don't see why the Pack wouldn't try to get a 1st though. But it'd be good for them to send him to the other conference if they believe he is legit. Browns have a lot of ammo with those picks

Even if the compensation was a 7th round pick I would say no. I would be against paying Flynn top 5 money.

If you franchise a player why do you have to trade him for two first rounders?

Thats if a team makes a tender... If they willinglly trade the guy, they can ask for what they want...? no?

I wasn't very high on Flynn in the first place, but I would've been more than happy to get him in free agency. But now that we would have to potentially trade a 1st or 2nd then I say let Cleveland have him.

Unless the team that tagged the player (GB) excepts less. No way is GB expecting 2 firsts for Flynn. If they are, they're going to have one highly paid backup QB on their roster. This rumor may be false (I have no idea) and if it is, it's not because of the reason you gave

The CBA does not allow the club to negotiate a lesser deal. It's 2 first rounders or nothing. It's a rule put in place to protect players from tag and trade.

I get what you are saying but its still a tendered offer even if it was solicited by the team that used the franchise tag

If they franchise him, he would not be traded till draft day. So let's see what happens with Peyton first, then, ask this question on draft day. By the way, if he is franchised we would not necessarily have to give him a big contract if we trade for him; we could keep him at the tag rate and test him for a year, if he sucks nads, we could dupe him..
