Stock watch: Super Bowl odds

Still don't see how Buffalo jumped Miami in a lot of people's minds. They are better, but not enough to jump ahead of the Dolphins. I saw a video on ESPN's website that says the Patriots will win the East but asked the question who would be second in the division. They gave Buffalo and New York as the options and completely left Miami out of the conversation. The disrespect is nauseating.

Brother Josh it is due to the unknown of our new head coach Philbin and staff. That would be some extra motivation for me and my staff that is for sure.

That was really ridiculous. I'd be willing to bet money on the fact the Phins will not be last in the division. I guess it's just a question of whether the Jets or the Bills will be last. The other will probably be second if I had to put money on it. So maybe the poll was asking who'll be second and fourth, lol.

Just being honest, the Bills have a better QB depending on whether Matt Moore or a HEALTHY David Garrard wins the job, they have better RBs, better WRs, better DL and better DBs.

Miami has better TEs, a better OL and better LBs. Yet even those edges are tenuous because Scott Chandler had a very Anthony Fasano-like year, their OL for all its supposedly being less talented than ours actually outperformed our OL in 2011, and the margin on the linebackers is not wide because of the presence of Nick Barnett.

So yeah I think I'd forecast that team better right now, especially as everyone in Buffalo returns in the same system whereas the Dolphins are hitting the reset button on both their offense and defense.

As for the Jets, well if you want to be considered better than them we ought to try actually BEING better than them because as much as we chide their sinking ship they win more games than we do and at this very moment they have a more talented roster, not to mention a much more proven defensive staff.

So what we're 4th in the division right now. The Bills and Jets are sinking, they're just fighting the good fight. The Bills will continue to pound their head into a wall until they find a better QB and the Jets are the same way, except they may fall harder because they're more likely to convince themselves they have a QB between Sanchez and Tebow. If Miami picked the right QB then they should eclipse both teams in due time.

I genuinely don't see Fitzpatrick as any type of noticeable upgrade compared to Matt Moore.

If Garrard is healthy, he's better than either of them, but I have no faith in him actually being healthy so here we are.

I agree I think our QB situation is better than the Bills easily! Better than the Jets too for that matter and I'm not alone, many Jet fans would agree with me.

What has the Bills coaching staff proved recently though? All they've done is shown they can't make the playoffs in years.

It isn't so much that the Bills "might" be better or that the Jets have been slightly better recently, it is the fact that Miami isn't even in the conversation. People have already written them off as the 4th team in the division. How can ESPN have a debate about who the second best team is in the AFC East and include Buffalo but not Miami? The Bills have been 4th in the division the past four seasons, if you include them you have to include Miami. People act like there is some huge gap between the Dolphins and the Bills and Jets. Realistically all three probably have just about the same shot at being the #2 team in the division. Miami is not some doormat that is looking way up at the Bills and Jets, especially when Miami has beaten the Jets 5 of the last 7 meetings and the Bills 6 of the last 8 meetings.

All I am asking is not to just assume Miami is going to be something(4th in the division) they haven't been since 5 years ago. At least include them in the conversations when discussing the rest of the AFC East. The disrespect is everywhere. Just go to NFL.com and go to the team page of the Dolphins. They list the record as being (--), but list Miami as "4th AFC East". Go to the Bills page and they have them as "2nd AFC East". Either list Miami as "3rd AFC East" like they finished last season or list every team as being "1st AFC East" since no games have been played.

The disrespect is earned.

Look, as much as people don't want to see it, this team is just not that good. We lost our best WR for not much in return. There's a new offense that this team has to put in, and the new HC is an unknown. The defense is obviously the better side of the ball, but they can only do so much. I just don't see this team being very good, no matter which way you spin it.

The above quote probably was said in June 2008 also. Probably even more harsh than that.

The thing is we can't be sure that this team is going to "suck" and that it "doesn't have talent". I am sure people didn't see the 49ers going to the NFC Championship game last season or the Bengals making the playoffs. No spin, just don't want to be written off before one snap is even taken. Especially don't like the conclusion that we are going to be something(4th in the division) that they haven't been in 5 years. If you are going to include the 4th place Bills in AFC East discussions, how can you not include Miami? It is easy to list off negatives on paper, but it is also easy to list off positives.

Losing Brandon Marshall doesn't mean this passing game is going to suck. It does hurt the talent level, but this is a new system and the team was succesful in 2008 with less talent at WR. If Miami can get good quarterback play they can move the ball. As you said, the defense should be good again and our running game should be good also. I don't think anyone is seriously thinking Miami is going to make a deep playoff run, but I personally think they will be competitive and win more than people are thinking. I don't think Miami will make the playoffs, but I see them more in the 8-8 range than the 4-12 predictions that are being thrown around.

I wasn't trying to be honest, not harsh at all. If we get good QB play, things can work out better for the team.

I totally get what you're saying about the Bills, but if I had to, I can come up with a reason they keep saying that. In the eyes of the media, they think the Bills improved, while the Dolphins regressed. The season is a long way away, so I take these with a grain of salt.

I never thought they would be 4-12 bad, but I do have them in the 6-8 win range depending on how things pan out.
