Amazing how some people are blaming Coyle for this game. He put the players in positions to make plays. He can't go out there and make the tackles. Our defense didn't tackle anybody. How many times did we hit a runner right at the LOS just for that runner to break enough tackles to gain 9 yards? That's on the players, not the coaches. I also counted about i or 9 times when their oline pushed our dline back 4 or 5 yards right at the snap. Is that the coaches fault? Wake, Vernon and the whole defense didn't even touch Manning all game long. Is that the coaches fault? Just stop the insanity. This defense just can not handle any pressure. They can't stop any good teams. And oh, we even have people still trying to blame Tanny too.....lol...we've beaten ONE playoff bound team this year, NE who we got at the right time. Home in early September. Tanny has made great progress and the defense let us down once again. Stop telling us how great the defense is when we win and then blaming the DC when we lose. Even Vernon said "we just didn't show up".So there, you can stop blaming everyone else. The players on defense is the reason we lost and the reason we'll miss the playoffs too if we don't get it.

My complaint was the scheme we used. We've been watching P.Manning from his AFC East days and this is how you beat him.

Pressure up front with Man-Press behind them..PERIOD!

We played rush 3 and zone stuff behind it. Come on man...Payton has made a living off that stuff. Plus it didn't help that were not particularly good at it.

I would agree. Not getting pressure on Peyton was a huge mistake.

We have to stop blaming the coaching staff and RT. This loss lays completely on the defensive line. They did not show up today and do what they can do. You can expect that Peyton is going to have good day and not get sacked he does that against every team. But was is totally unexcusable is the worst rushing offense in the NFL with their 3rd and 4th string RB run over our "Elite" defensive line for 200 yards.

If we made half the tackles we missed, we would have won. Players we so bad, it starts and ends there. Must be hard to call defenses when you players are getting beat in every battle.

Look, I'm not saying Coyle is a genius but like someone else said, if we had only made half the tackles we miss then we wouldn't need this thread. Some of you are still making excuses. The players are saying themselves that THEY didn't show up. They had 10 days to be ready and still couldn't tackle anybody. You can't blame Coyle for that.

coyle is blameless but the D was making rookie mistakes, even against backups. miss tackles and awful tackles all day

It was cold and at high altitude against a great QB and offense.
That said, the number of missed tackles and the line getting manhandled was unexpected.

Stop blaming the DC? So it was the players' idea to only rush 3 consistently and let the best QB in history pick us apart? I think not. Coyle has been getting by because of the talent on this defense...... Not because of any great scheme on his part.

They screwed the pooch.

We were the #2 D in the NFL going in. No one loses their job (except maybe Jimmy ****in Wilson.)

Bad game plan? Yes. Bad execution, absolutely.

Fired? Lay off the crack pipe.

If Manning had passed for 400 yards it'd be different but the problem was they ran for over 200 yards with their 3rd and 4th string RBs. That's on the front 7. The dline got manhandled all game long. Why can't you see what everyone else saw? You can keep blaming Coyle if it makes you feel better but at the end of the day our defense has ONE win against a playoff team so far and they have melted when playing goid teams. Vernon said they didn't play well. He said they didn't show up. What else do you want? It's pretty clear but you don't want to see it. I know what Manning can do but this was our run defense that sucked all day.

I don't think the DC gets fired. The players simply didn't show up. defense was atrocious. Once again, with the opportunity to seal the deal, the defensive players dropped a deuce.

Couldn't have asked too much more of RT17 and the offense.

I don't understand why people can't see Coyle's game plan was awful and the players made it worse by not executing better. The entire D was sub-par.

Rushing three against Manning when the Rams just showed you have to attack the man was bad scheming. Too much faith in the front 3 all day.
