There's been A LOT of talk about how challenging, how arduous the Miami Dolphins' 2009 schedule is.

So much talk that Tony Sparano has even pointed out how fierce it is on paper, and educated his team that few division champs (.486 percent of division winners the past 10 years) return to the playoffs the very next season.
The schedule is fierce... on paper. It's the toughest in the NFL (.594) based on last year's win-loss totals.

No one in South Florida complained when the Dolphins played New England without Tom Brady twice last season, or when Seattle started Seneca Wallace instead of Matt Hasselbeck. Or when the Dolphins played the Rams with Orlando Pace and Steven Jackson nursing serious injuries, or J.P. Losman and not Trent Edwards was starting for the Bills in their second meeting.

Also in Miami's favor is the fact the Dolphins only go west once (to San Diego). Last year Miami went west twice.

The Dolphins also play all four of it's exhibition season opponents (Jacksonville, Carolina, Tampa Bay, and New Orleans) in the regular season, which will help the coaches from a preparation standpoint. Sure it'll help the opposition too, but I wouldn't trade Sparano's staff (with a little Bill Parcells assistance) for any of those four teams.

So, after hearing my argument, does the schedule still concern you? Is it still the Goliath that will keep the Dolphins from returning to the post season?

I lost all respect for Omar when he "cried" about being called out about his dumb *** colum on Finheaven...And demonstrated a lack of basic grammatical structure in the process.

Who's crying about the schedule? Nobody I know. We play more or less the same schedule as everyone in the AFC East, and the schedule is only tough on paper right now.

Stupid colum by a hack that has nothing else to write about. I know he's doing it to gain traffic and probably doing a good job at it..But that doesn't take away from the fact he's a turd of a writer.

I'm kinda glad our guys are playing tough teams. It's a lot more legit to put up a good fight against them instead of playing the Lions all season.

It's fan thing... not a player thing... and I'm not buying BP's take either... NFL players think they are going to win every time they take the field... if they didn't.... they wouldn't be in the game...

Injuries can take a good team down a few notchs, so who knows what the future brings. Play them one at a time and see how it goes. Yes it's a tougher schedule than last year, but some of those teams (Colts) are not as feared as they once were.

Our schedule is pretty much the same as the rest of the afc east and we won the afc east last year so the way i see it, buffalo, NYJ, and NE are all screwed.

I don't understand all the hoopla about our schedule. People get all defensive when people say the Phins have a tough schedule. It's not an attack, it's a fact that our schedule has the best winning percentage last year.

But what is this Kelly trying to say? It's not a factor? There are a lot of factors that play into the .594 winning pct. so maybe it's a misleading fact, but I'd like Miami's chances a bit better if they were playing the schedule with the lowest winning pct. No matter how much this guy tries to twist it, it's a factor. But hey, it's what happens when your a competitive team. I'll take it.

And what is there to cry about? The system is what it is, and I don't see anybody whining about it. But the two game difference from the rest of the AFC is pretty significant with how often tiebreakers come along. We get Pitt and SD, the Jets get Oakland and Cincy. And of course anything can happen, but there are tendencies still. No one's going to bet on Detroit to go to the Super Bowl next year.

And no crap we didn't cry about all the breaks we got last year. I appreciate any break that comes the Phins way. Is there something wrong with that?

What's the point of this article? To try to make Dolphin fans look stupid?

Im not complaining, infact i'd rather have the toughest than the easiest because if we get the easiest and win the division then people will keep saying "oh, they won because an easy schedule and all the other teams in the division somehow have a schedule that is 10 times harder."
And also, teams do not stay the same every year, some teams get easier and some get harder, I don't know anyone who betted on the cardinals to get to the super bowl.
There are no excuses now.

No one is crying about it, it's just all they talk about when it comes to making predictions for the season.

The one thing i can about the Fins over all the years i have watched them is we usually play up to the competition, and we also play down to the competition, so my thinking is if we have the toughest schedule this season, we gonna be some battle hardened MEAN SOBS come January. Woot woot

Go Miami
Silence the critics!!

The west coast game is against perhaps the strongest team in the afc that's been sitting at home for 2 weeks while we'll be traveling on a short week after a monday night game.
