Keeping the Fan Faith Alive
While this may be a petty attempt at ending the outlandish reactions by some of the knee jerk commentators on this board, here is my shot at stopping the madness and setting things straight in four points:
It may sound like a "handbook for being a better FinHeaven poster" but it's really just common sense things to consider when writing on here. We hear these things sprinkled throughout people's comments. This is just a mini-compilation of those thoughts.
Perhaps if we continue to drive this home we will see a day where none of this is necessary on FinHeaven.
Or that may just be a wish more than a reality.
- Communication is Key
The art of communications comes from methodical and logical arguments, not knee jerk reactions. It serves the board no good to have a ton of unsupported statements that are purely subjective and hold no substance or facts. For the sake of the board, lets think before we act and react.
- This is Not "2012," Only 2009
The Dolphins have all the cards stacked against them this season. From the difficult schedule to the injuries, the hurdles placed in front of the Dolphins in '09 would be a handful for any team. Given that, there is no need to denounce coaches, players and the organization every week that the team falls short of victory. The game of football raises one to greatness one season and tears them down the next, it's just how the game goes.
- Look at the Big Picture
We may all have reactions/opinions to every snap, every drive, every game and every season, but that must not blind us from the essential goal of every competitive NFL team: that is to establish a long-term winning product on the field. With that said, the Dolphins are in more of a rebuilding stage than a contending stage. We must take into account that development is key to that goal and Miami needs time to achieve that development.
- Support the Cause
True fans are loyal, passionate and resilient. They are there for the "1-15 Seasons" and the "Undefeated Seasons." Bandwagoning serves no good for the team, so stay true to your colors and do not get lost in the frustrations of minor setbacks and gut-wrenching losses. Confide in the organization and provide positive support.
