This has got to be the most annoying thing that I hear, who's going to be our 1st rd pick in the 2009 draft. 1st off, who's to say where we're going to be picking in the draft next year, it could be #1 again or maybe as high as 20. Also, how is anybody going to project a player a year away? Look at how many players are projected to blow up and have great junior or senior seasons but end up not having such a great year. Ex: Calais Campbell, look at that guy, he was suppose to be a top 5 pick and look at how far he fell. You can't project a draft an entire year away so don't waste your time.

Good point, but I don't understand why this annoys people. If you don't like the thread someone has started then don't read it and give it the chance to get under your skin.

The people who start threads like the one in question are just bored and trying to spark some conversation, is there anything wrong with that?

If I'm honest, starting a completely new thread with the sole purpose of discrediting another thread is silly and clutters the forum. If you can't stop reading threads that annoy you, post your agitation in the original thread.

I should point out that I agree with you, and I'm sure no one will correctly call our pick in 2009, but I don't see the harm in having some fun with it.

Then don't come to the draft forum. The '08 draft is over, what else is there to talk about right now?

Dude, it's the off season....we have NOTHING else to really talk about. I want Rey Maualuga (spelling?) linebacker from USC.

even though the 09 draft is obviously a year away,it's still fun to speculate on.

I like them because they give us players to look at during the season.

i always want to go back and see what peeps were saying about the 09 draft in 07 but can never find anything.

Thats it, it shows who to keep an eye on and watch

It's ok to look toward what might be ahead with the 09 draft and what players might project well, but the whole who do we pick thing is a little annoying. Of course it's fun to look at the players that might be the elite prospects next season, but there's no way to project who to what team.

Well... I'm glad I have your blessing to talk about the next draft in the draft forum...

Anyway... I see your point... but the reality is... today or the day before the draft... everyone's guess is just that... a guess. In fact... outside of the top 8 players in the 2008 draft, there was "no way to project who goes to what team." ... even the day of. In fact... someone's best guess now may be just as good as someone's best guess the day of of the 2009 draft... especially with draft-day trades taken into account.. no one sees those coming.

The closer we get, the better the information will be, but if you or anyone you know claims you knew Houston was taking Duane Brown when they were on the clock in round 1... you're smarter than I am and in the wrong line of work... that's my point, 341 days or 341 seconds before the pick... everything is a guess. Your original post said you can't project an entire year away... well I got news, you can't project an entire minute away.

What does it matter if people are talking now or 341 days from now? The draft is one of the best days on the calendar for the NFL, and with nothing else to talk about the next couple months, draft talk is welcome... in fact, there's a whole forum for it!

ok I will listen Miamifin23 and stop talking about the 2009 draft so I will pose a question to you, who do you think we will draft in the 2010 draft?

Its almost impossible to project the draft when its a month a way yet there are people who make careers out of it and become millionaires. Whats the difference if they are projecting the draft when its 3 months away or its a year, its all projections and really just something that is enjoyable and fun... and this whole forum was full of projections for like 6 full months prior to the draft. Sure its way premature to actually know whats going to happen but since you never know whats going to happen its never to soon or to late to mock, if mocking is what your into i say mock on!

what else is there to talk about in a draft forum, besides the 09 draft. Why even bother coming to this forums anyways since it is all draft info, stick to my dolphins forum. Lots of people like to specuate months in advance you is going to be the top ten picks!

Hah, Colt Brennan the #28 pick. I remember posting on the ESPN boards during all the Heisman disputes that Brennan is not that impressive, and will not be drafted before the 5th round. Got so much crap for that for the Hawaii fans. The act like Timmy Chang never happened.
