I just wanted to get an idea how many regulars we have around here that are either in Tampa, or near Tampa, and would be willing to try and gather at a spot in Tampa where we could gather to watch Fins games week in and week out on a big screen TV.

I've been in Tampa a few years now, and I know I've generally gone between places just searchin for whatever is convenient.

As you all know, most places do cater to the Bucs...and a lot of times you can't get the Fins on a good TV.

But, there is safety in numbers and as long as you find a host that is willing, I think we have a good chance of finding a bar that we can gather in to watch games.

The General Manager of the Green Iguana in Ybor City recently contacted me about helping him organize some Dolphins fans from FH to come to the Iguana to watch games on their big screen TV.

I loved the idea. He's a Phins fan like all of us and wants to get a following in there on Sundays. I've been to that Green Iguana plenty of times too...they have the Dollar Beer Nights on Wednesday nights where they put up table tops on the pool tables and get the hot chiquitas dancin up there...nice naughty stuff

Their food is awesome, love the black and bleu burger personally. It's also in a big draw area (Ybor...pretty famous everyone from the area should know it) and the games should generally be happening on days where we're not going to run into the kinds of troubles you usually run into at Ybor on, for instance, Friday and Saturday nights.

So far the guy is talkin about doing drink specials, like dollar beers or somethin, for Fin fans gathering inside...maybe some food or wing specials, and he was thinking we could even do merchandise raffling or something. Nothing has been settled on, it's very up in the air and we're trying to gauge what kind of traction we can get with all the Tampa Fins Fans.

Hey all the power to him if he wants to go through with that kind of stuff. Personally I would just be satisfied if we could get like 20 Fins fans in there every weekend gathered around the big screen watchin and cheerin the team together.

I went to school at Georgetown in Washington DC and I use to go to a bar called Rhinos up there, and they had a big following of Philadelphia Eagles fans, of all teams, that always gathered to that one joint to watch the Eagles games...and they all cheered together and chanted and whatnot when they scored a touchdown. I always thought that was pretty cool and I thought maybe it'd be cool if we could get together some displaced Fins fans in Tampa to do the same. There HAVE to be enough of us here.

Damn CK, I was just thinking of posting something like this, but for fans regionally around the country, like here in the lowcountry of South Carolina. Has anyone on this site ever attempted anything like that before? Good luck with the Tampa area finfans. You guys should have no trouble getting together.

LOL, Hmm, I have been trying to do the same thing myself at Whisky North. I am a bartender there and have been trying to organize a group to start coming there as well. Hell, if the drinks are cheaper than I get I would go there BUT I think we setting up for wireless access so cats can follow their fantasy football stats!!

ck, you and are are coworkers if i remember correctly. I'd be up for meeting up for a game or two. Keep me posted.

I live right by work...right in Carillon.

I think I wanna really try and get the thing together for the Ybor Green Iguana...it's just one of my fav bars and seems pretty centrally located and all.

True. Wireless would be pretty cool but to be honest I don't know of a whole lot of football fans bringin their lappys to the bar with them. I think you generally risk a lot of beer spillage. Just the other day I was hangin with my gf and her roommate and a friend in gainesville and I had my gf's roommate's laptop goin on the dining room table during the preakness, and my gf's friend spilled a beer over on the table and gave us a nice scare as the laptop shorted out.

If I had one I'd be tempted to bring one for checkin on the ole fantasy stats that's true...but I'd probably think twice cuz of the spillage.

Not that I know of man. Wish I could help you or the person in Philly but I live in Tampa so all I know is Tampa.

Yeah, I live in Brandon. Probably a 10 minutes from Ybor. I was thinking of getting the dish, but something like this would be awsome. I am all in dude:dolphins:

Cool make sure you vote man. It helps me keep track of the FH people that are interested. Ultimately I was hoping to put together like a list of folks who are interested in this along with contact information so that we can like send out reminders and stuff to let everyone know what exactly is going on and what specials/prizes/etc we have going...you know, let people know that everything is still a go etc.

Incidentally, I was thinking that a good way to kick this off might be to try and get as many of us possible packed in there to watch the NFL Opener, Miami up in Pittsburgh. Should be a great game. Pitt is not as strong at home as they are on the road and they've generally been bad under Cowher when there have heavy expectations. Meanwhile, Miami is historically obscenely good in the season opener, even on the road. I think generally the heat and humidity of training camp gets our guys in tip top game shape just a little quicker than a lot of other teams...not much but just a bit of an edge.

Daunte should be healthy and ready to go in the opener, that much is not an issue. The question will be can he finish the season, not can he start it. But, Daunte struggled in 2005 against the Steelers if I remember right.

Should be a good game...people shouldn't just pencil in the L for us on that one, we have a good chance of winning it. I put it about 50/50 to be honest.
