thanks for this....

So if Carolina beats NE, and we win out, we get the AFC EAST. That one game (Carolina beating NE) could make the difference.

Also, if we win out and Baltimore wins out it looks like we take the wild card on strength of victory.

If all of this is true, if we win out, we're in the playoffs regardless....

Hope this is true

Essentially, if NE loses to Carolina, our SOS becomes .416. New England's remaining games with JAX and Houston will cancel out because we both play those teams coming up.

If we beat Pitt it will likely improve that .416 number (unless Pitt loses all of their games).

A Baltimore loss down the stretch would clinch it for us (assuming we win out).

way too early to speculate on sov at this point. there's a lot of games who are going to figure into this. i actually posted this list because there are many people who are whining about not beating any quality opponents. looking at our sov, it could be a lot worse.

i would prefer if New England lost to an AFC team. that would give them 5 conference losses.

WRONG. For whatever reason, New England still has a tiebraker advantage over us, UNLESS they lose to BUFFALO. The only thing that happens if Carolina beats New England is New England gets bumped down to the 4th seed instead of their current 3rd seed.

The key game for us to gain an advantage over New england is the New England vs. Buffalo game. If Buffalo beats New england, we are in control of our own destiny regardless.

WRONG AGAIN. If Baltimore wins out and we win out they get the tiebraker for a wildcard. If we win out, the only team we need to worry about is Baltimore. If they drop one (any one) game, then we would be up next in line for the wildcard.....

This may be a little more confusing but apperantley, if we win next week, we are in possesion of the last wildcard spot, and we can hold on to it but we wouldn't control it, it would come down to whether Baltimore loses to Pittsburgh in week 16....if Baltimore beats Pittburgh, that's when we would lose control of the last wildcard spot, and Baltimore would then gain the edge for the last spot.

I used the NFL playoff generator....

they don't have to lose against Buffalo specifically, although it would help out a lot more because we'd have a better division record if they did. assuming we'd win out, New England would have to lose to any AFC opponent and we'd win the division.

if Baltimore wins out, we win out and New England loses to any AFC opponent, we win the division and the Ravens clinch the final wild card berth. New England would be out of it altogether unless Denver loses 3 more games.

And then we'd be hosting the Ravens in the first round AGAIN. :ponder:

I'm not worried about Baltimore, the still have a game @ Pittsburgh with Roethlisberger (and maybe Polamalu) actually playing this time.
