With the latest news that Keith Butler was offered and rejected the offer to become miami's DC it marks the second time that Tony Sparano attempted to hire a highly regarded assistant run his teans offense or defense.

Upon his hire Tony Sparano wanted and was rejected by Pete Carmicheal Jr. and now ofcourse Keith Butler says no.

This reminds me greatly of Dave Wannstedts failings at his attempt to bring his targeted FA's to miami and was consistantly rejected,it to me says something about the person when people reject oppurtunity's to work with them.

Carmicheal & Butler may or may not become outstanding coaches in the NFL thats to be seen what we know is they were two guys Sparano wanted more than they wanted him, and thats troubling in my eyes.

Is it a Sparano issue or Parcells?

Pete Carmichael was all set to become our OC, but Drew Brees and Sean Peyton both begged him to stay for one more year. He was promoted to OC this year when Doug Marrone left for Syracuse.

I have been saying all week that Keith Butler would be a good hire, but a hard one because he is the heir apparent to Dick LeBeau.

This isn't a Tony Sparano or a Dick LeBeau thing. Sometimes things just don't work out

I'll admit I'm a little disappointed Sparano wasn't able to nail this guy down. If they interviewed then passed on him that's one thing but to offer and be rejected makes you wonder if it was a bad pitch or product that didn't close the sale?

Yea, because it has to be something wrong w/ the heads of the franchise huh? Maybe, just maybe the situation wasn't right for the person, you think?

Stretching big time to place blame on Sparano. Most likely as simple as Butler wanting to stay with Pitt and take over after Lebeau.

I still think Butler was just using Miami as leverage with Pittsburgh. Why risk leaving a good situation in Pittsburgh for a major project in Miami? He's set up for success in Pittsburgh when he takes over a d-coordinator there. He's tight with Tomlin, knows the personnel, knows the coaching staff, knows the front office, etc. A lot more risk for him to come to Miami.

Who knows, maybe he got a nice raise and a clause in his contract guaranteeing him as D-Coordinator when Lebeau leaves.

The only thing I find odd is Romeo spent weeks down here during the season only to take the KC job when all signs pointed to Romeo being the top of a very short list. Now Butler turns us down, you have to wonder if they don't like the role they will have or something!?!?

The Chiefs have been talking about Crennel taking over their defense for the last month of the season, so it was a done deal. Parcells wasn't going to let business get in the way of family, Pioli.

Then he needs togo! Especially since Pioli is his son-in-law. Business is business and personal is personal the 2 should never mix and if The Miami Dolphins Franchise is going to not make a run at a top tier DC because his Son-In-LAw wants him, well that is junk! When does it stop do we not go after top Free Agents because Scotty wants them, or not trade up in the draft because Scotty may want to draft that player?

Doesn't much matter anymore, but where did this come from? I thought Butler was heir apparent?

Steelers Buzz: No more coaching changes expected

4:25pm - Thursday, January 7th, 2010 by DePaoli

Defensive Coordinator Dick LeBeau will return for at least one more season, while assistant head Coach/Defensive Line coach John Mitchell will return.
Mitchell is the front runner to replace Dick LeBeau as defensive coordinator, if 2010 is LeBeau's last season.

I understand situations being or not being right, you know going in what the situation is.

Your being interviewed by Parcell & Sparano to run the teams defense simple as that, if there is something you dont like regarding the city, team, organization you decline the interview.

Its strike 2 to me once(Carmicheal Jr) coincidence, twice(butler) patteren
