Been listening to him while at work since he came on at 3 (look under my Avatar :D )...

He's making the argument that this years Phins are going to be a lot better than people think. The argument he is making is look at the skill positions. Have we EVER been this good or deep at RB? or WR? Now I know that's not all of the team. But I have to agree with some of what he is saying. We are stacked at those 2 positions. The DL is very deep also. Jason Cole said on Joe Rose this morning that our DL is going to be very exciting to watch. Houck seems to be whipping these boys into shape and I think the OL cannot be any worse than last year. Secondary and QB are real question marks right now and QB is a major concern. But...

Do you agree with his assesment, that QB aside, we are more impressive at the skill positions than we've ever been?

Also..coaching puts teams over the top in the NFL. It's how it's set up. The common theme at camp from the beat writers and reporters on this site (Thanks for what you do), is that this coaching staff is doing a WHOLE LOT OF COACHING. They are preaching technique constantly every single day. It think that's also going to make a huge difference this year.

I can see us winning 8 or 9 games. This team will not get blown out and will be prepared to play every week. Like Saban says, he wants other teams to hate playing us. I believe him.

We COLUD be very, very good. We COULD repeat last year. We COULD improve somewhat. We have a lot of question marks that could have very pleasant answers.

I agree. QB aside I think we have a good team.

Yeah thats exactly the way I look too. Hopefully more pleasant answers than bad ones.

I think this will be a 8-9 win team. Unfortunately the coaches are too new to make a sudden impact, in SD Houck took a couple of years before the OL made a bit turn arround. Also Ronnie is a rook, he'll be good but look for the difference his second year. Ricky is underweight and hasn't been arround football for a year, on top of that he will miss a 1/4 of the season. I like our WR corps, especially with Linehan calling the shots. QB play will be improved, especially if the OL and the running backs become consistent. Overall, I like the way things are looking, but anything over 9 wins and I'll be ecstatic.

Disagree on the RB's as well

Csonka, Kiick, Morris

We could be very, very good, and I highly, highly doubt that this year will be a repeat of last year. The chances of that happening are slim to none, IMO. This team is too talented and too well coached now.

I don't think some people realize just how poorly coached this team has been over the past few years.

I personaly think the Dolphins will win 10 games this year.

I don't think there's any doubt we'll be improved either, but find it hard to translate into wins. Thinking from 7-9. To me a lot depends on OL and QB, just being able to move the ball and avoid game-changing turnovers should get us 2-3 more W's.

God dangit Feeley, just be good this year so we can have a great season. Please man! Can we ever have a team where all positions are solid!?

Even with the cluster f#ck of last year, what with Ricky leaving, having no experienced offensive coordinator, losing Boston for the year, and our two big run stuffing DTs playing hardly at all, the general disarray of the coaching staff with reports of infighting between various factions on the staff, etc, we lost only 5 games by more than one score. We were not that far from winning in each of the seven other losses. Most would agree we have at least as much talent personnel wise as last year, and our coaching staff is immeasurably better. We could easily make a dramatic turnaround in 2005, in MY opinion

In many people's opinions too.

Including mine.

The probleim is IMO the two most important positions are QB and the secondary. QB for obvious reasons and the secondary because we are in a passing era.

And looking at the five losses by 2 or more scores, Tenn, Pitt, @NE, @NYJ, Buffalo, we were really dominated in only the @NE and @NYJ losses. The other three losses were each by 10 points, and if we would have had the current leadership in place, those too could have very possibly been wins.
The difference between solid playoff teams and also rans in the NFL, imo, is the quality of the coaching staffs. The talent level of the rosters is not as diverse as the coaching. We now have one of top 5 head coaches on the planet with as good a supporting cast of assts as we've had since the 70s, if not ever. Any true die-hard Phin fan should be very excited about the upcoming season.

Yup. Now, we just have to get Ronnie signed and in camp, sign Lance Schulters, get the Randy McMichael situation cleared, and STAY HEALTHY!

Then things would be perfect.
