Sullivan Hired - GM

As I said elsewhere, what makes the 49ers tick right now is…McCaffrey and Kittle.

Look at recent 49ers drafts. They had more success with late-round picks than early-round picks (sounds very familiar to a Dolphins fan).

2021 - Trey Lance, Trey Sermon in the first three rounds.
2022 - Drake Jackson, Tyrion Davis-Price in the first three rounds.
2023 - Ji’Ayir Brown, Jake Moody, Cameron Latu in the third round.
2024 - Ricky Pearsall, Renardo Green, Dominick Puni in the first three rounds. Decent, but not earth-shattering.
2025 - Mykel Williams, Alfred Collins, Nick Martin in the first three rounds. Ehhh.

All told, that’s not a ton of production from 5 seasons of early-round picks. Forget the Trey Lance trade and bust? Nah, why forget that? That’s an all-time miss that doesn’t get discussed because Purdy arrived as Mr. Irrelevant.

Does that sum up my view well enough for you? Their offensive line is currently in shambles. They blew the Aiyuk deal. They’ve plugged in some decent backups to keep the defense afloat, but the defense isn’t necessary playing well currently. Etc, etc.
Wow that’s horrible. Why are they still good???

I honestly think Mike and Champ thought they would be back. IF not for bringing in Aikman, they may have been too.
We may look back one day and give thanks for Aikman getting the Miami-Pittsburgh game that evening. I mean, I’ve never heard an announcer so disgusted with the game management of a HC or the play of a QB like that. It wasn’t one or two comments. He was beside himself. I think that’s why Ross hired him 😂

Is that a haiku ?
No. It's a FUG Q!! Message to chump: Get your whining azz out of here and accept the fact your not good enough to be a gm backed up by the half dozen teams who passed you by in the last 10 years.

Get the fug out before they send security. Buh-By!!

Excellent watch! Was a tad long, and interviewer/host couldn't be more boring lol...Great to hear how he came up the ranks, who his mentors were, his description of his trade and the importance of being thorough and detailed oriented. This guy is light years away from the scrubs we've had in our front offices the past 2+ decades.

So glad we didn't end up with this guy.

Ross: "Ok, Ok Champ. Not the recommended reaction to not getting the job, but I get it. Actually, that brings up why I stopped by... Jon-Eric needs your office by this afternoon and we have decided to move your stuff down to that spare mechanical room in the basement. Wallace Jeebs, our Chief maintenance guy, you know him, is going to be waiting for you and will go over your new work schedule. Claire will stop by later for your laptop and she has 6 cases of pencils that need sharpened too."

That’s why Hooters is dying and closing so many restaurants. 🤣.
This was back when we drafted Ryan Tannehill. Hooters was bought out by an investment group and they made some changes that did not go over too well, but this philosophy with the managers was actually well thought out.
