Good afternoon my fellow Phins fans: :dolphins:

Yesterday, I gave you my own personal take on Miami's final 53 man roster. And since then, I see many others have started threads with their own selections for the upcoming 2006 season.

Today, I came across this article in the Sun Sentinel and here are their pre camp selections as they breakdown our roster for the 2006 NFL season.

I haven't seen it posted yet, but if it has been just merge them.

Here's the link:

Please read it thru and then let me know if you agree or disagree with their selections.

Goooooooo Phinssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!

I don't agree our LB's deserve a B grade. You can't elevate the other LB's ability because you have Zach Thomas IMO. I think we are far from good at the LB position at least at this point. Maybe they will step up, but I can't give them a B at this point.

I agree with you to some extent. Outside of Zach and also Channing, this unit is an unknown at this time. I think that they will be adequate though. And when you factor in that we are switching to a 3-4 scheme, you can see how this could be a "B grade." If you drop Taylor, Roth, and Carter into the equation. It's a "B" or better IMO.

On the Dolphins Secondary, I would have to agree with this part....

Grade: C. With Daniels the only returning starter, it may take some time for cohesion to build in the secondary. Depth is much better than last season.

I hope Saban makes the LB position a priority next offseason. I'm almost certain he will.

I do too, but oddly I feel they are better then our LB's. Given Sabans love of coaching that position and the fact that he hand picked the players we now have. I think we will be very good in the secondary this season.

the linebackers i believe earn a B+...crowder is coming off of a productive season, zach led the team in tackles for the 10th time in his career, donnie spragan had an excellent season when filling in for seau, we recently got sedrick hodge who is a pretty decent player at linebacker, not to mention Pope who in my opinion is a very underrated player. I definately see great starters and great depth in the linebacker position

I believe our linebacking grade of a B was just fine. Thomas is top 10 backer in the league and Crowder is well on his way to becoming the same. Capers seems to like Spragan and it's been said he had been spending alot of time in the weight room during the offseason. You can't have stars at every LB position, it just doesn't happen. You have to be able to have players like Spragan who are solid in doing their job, but might not be able to make the spectacular plays. Personally I am more worried about our secondary than our LB's. But, I believe that come time to start the season Saban and Capers will have our D performing like a well oiled machine!!

Well that could explain why Saban passed on Brooks in the SD, however Crowder will have to prove last year wasn't a fluke and he can stay healthy given his history of knee problems. If Zach goes down I see us really hurting at the LB position. Again, JMO.

I also agree that " C" is fair. But that will only be the case at the very beginning of the season. Once Jason Allen, Will Allen and Yeremiah Bell all jell with Daniels, this will be a very good unit. And also Will Poole will joins em in in our nickel and dime coverages....IMO this unit will be a "B" or better by mid season.

Nick Saban is a master at developing the secondary. Consequently, I can't see this being a problem area on our team this season.

I agree as well.

I hope that ,until this unit gels, we can survive the mistakes they are bound to make.

Hopefully, they can iron out things well during the pre-season.

Are you saying that only because of the depth we currently lack? If so, then yes I would have to agree wtih you on that. However, I think before the season starts there are going to be some surprises with some of these young guys comin in. IE: Matt Sinclair I think will be a solid back up for us.

I'm not sure "cohesion" matters too much in the secondary. I mean these guys aren't side-by-side they're spread across the field. If you see a busted coverage it's usually the result of an individual missing his own assignment. Its not like we're talking about the OL or a QB and his WRs.
