Hello fellow Dolfans..........

There was a recent thread in this forum that discussed Sunday Ticket and the fact that anyone with the ticket plus Superfan will be able to also watch the games live on a personal computer. The catch is only one PC at a time can access Sunday Ticket using the userID and password. I threw out a post in that thread basically saying I would give the access via PC to anyone who wants it. Unfortunately, I have been inundated with offers for the Ticket via PC, including financial offers.

The fact is, I will again be watching every Fins game via a "negotiated" Sunday Ticket pricing structure along with Superfan (ok, let's not get into the specifics of the negotiations again and start that quagmire). Because I will be watching on TV, I will not need the PC access option. For this reason, I am willing to "sell" the access via PC to the "highest bidder."

The catch is I do not want any offers of money, credits, Paypal dollars, first born sons, or strip club VIP room coupons (okay, truth be told a few of them won't hurt your chances....). All kidding aside, what I want from all who are interested is this: post your claim of hardship and why you truly need/want/must have the Sunday Ticket PC access. It should include every bit of your story as to why this is an absolute must have item for you.

The individual with the best and most heartfelt TRUE STORY of why this is needed will be the winner of this esteemed prize, completely free of charge. The posting needs to be in this thread and I will select the winner (with everyone else's input in this thread as a contributor to my decision) onAugust 30, 2008. Please include why you became a Dolfan, when you became one, what you have done in your life to get scores of Dolfins games, life events you have compromised because of the Miami Dolphins, and all other relevant information that will assist me in this decision.

Again, no offers of money or items please - this is the fairest way I can think of to allow one additional person access to the team we all love: The Miami Dolphins.

Best of Luck to all who enter the contest..........!!

I once saw Bill Parcells with his shirt off and have been scarred for life...

Currently, I'm stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. We moved here last December, and I had previously gotten Sunday Ticket each of the last 3 years.

Anyway, we get out here, get moved into our govt housing and get DirecTV set up. No problem, right?

Well, about 4 months ago, the Navy/housing company tells me that I have to move to another house because the housing I was in was being demolished to build new GOV housing.

And to sweeten the deal, I have to move myself without any compensation. Fortunately, the new house wasn't that far away (It's Hawaii, remember). So i load up the 6 month pregnant wife and 2 kids and start moving pretty much by myself.

We get into the new house, and when i go to transfer my DirecTV, they tell me that there will be a $200 fee to move my service because I had done it already within the last 12 months. I go through the roof on the poor guy on the phone, and tell him the situation. He tells me that he's very sorry, but cannot do anything for me.

So I ask to talk to his manager, and he says that no one at the call center can wave the moving fee, and that I will have to be put in touch with someone from DirecTV Corporate. I give them my name and number and hang up.

I really didn't expect to get a call, but they actually did call me back the following day. I told the guy my situation and while he couldn't completely drop the fee, he did offer me a $10/mo discount for 1 year which basically reduces my movers fee to $80.

I'm still supremely pissed off at this point because i don't feel that I should have to pay anything to move half a mile down the road, but I take the offer. Then he floors me when he tells me that since I will essentially be renewing my contract with them, they are offering me FREE Sunday Ticket with Superfan just for renewing.

At this point I'm thinking to hell with the movers fee, I've hit the jackpot! Right?

Wrong!

I set up the installation, and due to the property management rules, you have to have a representative from PPV housing come out to make sure they dont' install the dish in an illegal location. they did this at my last house, but my wife was the one at home when they came by and they didnt' have any problems.

I think you can see where I'm going with this.

Long story short (too late?), they were unable to find an acceptable location to place the satellite dishes while achieving an acceptable angle to receive the satellite signal.

I say dishes, because for some reason Hawaii has to have not one, but two 2-meter in diameter dishes to receive their signal. Needless to say, these dishes take up so much space that you have to really be lucky to find a spot that works.

There was, actually, a good spot for the dishes in my yard, but it was too far in front of the house, so the property manager nixed it. I was pacing at this point, because here I am, about to get free Sunday Ticket and the only thing standing in the way is the rules of some stupid government housing organization!

I thanked the DirecTV guys, who were looking at me with sympathy in their eyes, and tell the management rep that I can't believe I serve my country for 17 years and can't even get satellite TV. I then went inside to drown my sorrows.

I've looked into a couple of online options, but nothing is available for football as far as actually watching the games. There's plenty of audio broadcasting options around, but football is a visual game, and I just can't get into listening to an audio broadcast of a game.

It would really mean a great deal to me if I were fortunate enough to get offered this. As you might imagine, we don't get many Dolphins games out here in Hawaii.

Go Phins!

Guess I have that stuff too!
I dont know how to access it. If anyone knows how, I will give mine to someone if you mail me a six pack of beer that is produced in your local area. I like trying different beer. Cheers

Dude, not rain on your parade, but you're stationed in freaking Hawaii. I would take no DTV and no Sunday ticket for the rest of my military career to trade Hawaii for some of the sh!tholes I've been stationed in. I appreciate all other military members, but what you have is not a hardship... :hi5:

To the OP, PM me and I can set you up with half a dozen Dolfans stationed in some crappy places that would love to see a Dolphin game or two, if you want to go the military route.

I can assure you, while Hawaii is quite lovely, it's not my first duty station, and having a family makes it extremely undesirable to be stationed here. Not to mention the fact that anyplace that I can't watch my Phins on TV is what I would consider a hardship!! :boohoo:

The family thing I 100% understand! It's why I took my current assignment. :hi5:

I also know what it's like to miss the Phins. If it wasnt fpr the internet and the one game we get on AFN each year I would have gone without for long stretches.
