What a pathetic, insulting business model DirecTV has made for themselves. With the current state of the economy, they could really make some long time customers by coming out and offering 1/2 off or something on Sunday Ticket to existing customers, and perhaps a better deal for those who have been custmers for 10+ years, like myself. Instead, they choose to try to get away with murder, then cave when customers threaten to leave them. This costs them several man-hours (hundreds, if not thousands) in customer service time. The icing on the cake is offerng it free to new custmers. In my business, if you did something similar, your entire customer base would turn on you and you'd be out of business fairly quickly. They can only afford to do this because they have a monopoly on NFL Sunday ticket. It's disgusting, costly (to us AND to them) and honestly it's unethical. If they're willing to cave and give it for free, but it costs every custmer 30 minutes of phone time, they'd be far better off proactively offering a nice discount to existing customers. Everyone would be happier. I haven't called them yet, but my plan is to tell them "I'm a Dolphins fan in Illinois. Have you seen their roster? Have you seen their QB play? It's no skin off my back to cancel for a few years, so why don't you go ahead and just cancel everything and I'll be switching to dish". F___ DirecTV. Criminals.
