First of all, I know this isn't the best place to post this but I figured everyone views this forum the most and could possibly help some other fellow Phin fans out...

I've heard this is possible and I was referred to this link:
www.directv.com/technology/mobile_apps/nfl_sunday_ticket

Which seems legit, but I couldn't figure out if that would allow me to watch via my laptop? But anyways I sent an email to directv just asking the deal on getting it without being a customer already and they flat out said there is no way to do it. So what gives? Hoping someone here is knowledgeable about the situation

They're correct, no NFL Sunday Ticket without signing up for it with Direct TV. Three alternatives are:

1) Illegal streams if you know where to find them. Not hard to figure out.

2) Find someone who has NFL Sunday Ticket and slip them a few bucks to let them use their NFL SUNDAY Ticket streaming access, most people never use it and are happy to let you have access. A couple of years ago I made a trade of Sunday Ticket online access for the season in exchange for access to my Netflix streaming for the year. It was a very fair trade.

3) Pay for NFL Game Rewind, which I do every year. The price is $69, $39 or $29 depending on the package you choose. I highly recommend it to anyone who can deal with not watching the games live. I personally can wait until Sunday night or Monday morning to watch the game if it means paying $69 instead of $300 for Sunday ticket.

So if I get this, I can watch the game on a computer, after the game is over? how long after the game, is it available to watch? Reason I ask is, I have to work weekends all of December. Thanks

It usually takes til the next morning. You also cannot watch any games while other games are on live tv. So can't watch on Sundays, Monday night, etc... At least that's the way it was two years ago when I had it.

Last year I had sunday ticket via internet (they sold the access with madden 25 collectors edition) but direct didn't have enough bandwidth, which meant the streams were very poor. Several of the games were about the same quality as a illegal streaming site.

There are other options. I used to always have DirecTV for ST but had to give up the service when I moved to a location that I wasn't allowed to install a dish. In 2011 (I Believe) PS3 had a special that allowed you to purchase ST and stream through the Playstation Network. I used that option. Then last year there was a special that if you purchased the Madden NFL 25 year deluxe edition through Amazon you would get ST for the season. All of these options also allowed you to stream through your computer, laptop, tablet or phone; tablets and phones streaming via an app.

I'm sure they'll offer similar deals this year. So yes, you can definitely get ST without having DirecTV, I've done it for the last 3 years.

damn, have to wait until the next day? that kind of sucks. i'll keep my eyes peeled and hopefully they do the sunday ticket again, without directv. might just get the rewind anyway. better late than never.

For me the games seem to be available at midnight eastern time zone, 11 pm central, 10 pm mountain and 9 pm pacific. If you're in Vegas I think it would be 9 pm. If your computer has an hdmi output or your tv has a vga input you can easily hook your computer up to your tv and watch the game on a bigger screen.

What I do, which is another option... is find a local sports bar/ restaurant which has a bunch of large TV's and shows all the games. I take my wife and we go and have lunch and watch the Dolphin game... :brewskis:

always a good option.

last year was great! If you purchased the Ultimate Madden edition ($99), you got Sunday ticket online for free. There were 2 or 3 weeks where it didnt work very well, but it was a great deal! I was hoping they would do that again this year, but it doesnt look like it.

2) You must find someone with a directv account with Sunday Ticket and Mobile access. Just because someone has the Ticket, does not mean they have mobile (PC, Smart Phone) access.

3) Sunday Ticket can be purchased for $199. This is the basic package with no "Red Zone". $199. while still not cheap, is much cheaper than going to a bar for two games or once to the actual game. Sunday Ticket is actually pretty cheap for what you get. I would not be without the Ticket. if they did not allow satelight dish, I would move.

yea, thats pretty much what i just said

So in theory could I buy a direct tv subscription without getting it set up just to use the nfl ticket app on my computer?

i'm hoping there's a better option than that closer to the start of the season, though.

in theory yes, but that's an expensive option...since they'll have you sign a 2 year contract plus Sunday Ticket is like $400 a season. That being said, they usually give new customers Sunday Ticket for free for the first season. And next season, if you call to cancel Sunday ticket, they will offer you a huge discount. There was a span of 3 years where I would call in august to cancel and once I got Sunday ticket for $100, then next two years I got it for half off. But then the 4th year I tried that, they didnt offer me anything, so I canceled it.
