I first have to start off in saying I like the Site. Im a newbie here, but not to the Dolphins or the NFL. Getting into it, I feel every Dolfan is concentrating on the next superstar added to the roster. The QB hunt....TO.....Secondary add-ons. We did have several Pro-Bowl players a few years ago when Ricky was the MVP, Zack made a Int. and Taylor had a sack in that game, with a few other players in the mix. Where did we go that year with all these pro-bowl players? Nowhere! Yes I know the team needs a few studs. Saban being the student of his Patriot mentor understands that team chemisrty is more important than the next freeagent hot pick. Saban is not going to run after these mediocre players, or the contraversal ones either. Coach Saban is going to make the next Rice, Marino, Law, Moulds and Oliver. Whether its through the draft, or the player on his chart that nobody was, or is talking about ( Welker, Sage ). Besides, its much more poetic when our head coach turns a bunch of Pro-Football players into a dominating machine by means of chemistry, consistancy, and tenacity. This will result in Superbowl rings, followed by the infamous "Superstar" label on the play makers.

Thats funny you say that.....since im quoting Saban himself. I simply agree with his logic, and the way he sees things.

You just said we don't win superbowls with superstars like Zach Thomas, and Jason Taylor, and we've gone nowhere with them. Yet, then you said we need to make our own superstars..... what the hell do you think Thomas and Taylor are?? We drafted them, and made them.

LOGICAL FALLACY

He's right to a degree. Superstars dont always win championships. Of course you need alot of talent, but look at the last 3 champions in sports.

Patriots/Spurs/White Sox.

I think that says enough.

Also, remember when the pistons, the ultimate team layed it to the lakers with shaq/kobe/payton/malone a couple years ago.

We didn't go anywhere because of our lame duck coach & his sorry arse QB.

You would make a great reporter, since they love manipulating statements, or just totally missing the point. My point was that superstars like Zack, Jason, and Ronnie dont win superbowls. The Chemisrty, and consistancy makes a superbowl team. Out of that superbowl team emerges pro-bowl players like these guys. However just the superstar player shoved into the starting lineup. Not going to get it done....understand?

Yea I would have to say he is a great player. You see what happens when his players he is used to playing with arent in though. No look at him, with the guys he has chemistry with in the game....hmmmm.

i think what he's also saying is that there's no need to sully the roster with an influx of veterans who've played their best days in other cities .... the best and most proven way is to grow our own talent with draft picks....

this is similar to a thread i suggested last month that brought great wrath from the "can't-get-off-the-nipple" crowd... if we don't get rapidly younger, then many of the strengths of today will become weaknesses faster than our weaknesses become strengths... if you follow... 30-something football players don't maintain... generally speaking, of course...

Isn't Tom Brady a superstar by now? He's already had awkward skits on SNL...

You guys are missing the point cmopletely. He is saying that Saban will develop his players into stars rather than bring in stars from other teams. Just like what happened with your example or Tom Brady.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner! :1st:

i think ist more accurate to say that super stars have trouble winning the big game because their inflated cap numbers restrict the other portions of their team...

Yeah, without a cap one sees many instances where championships were "bought". I mean what's with the Yankees (some years back), and if you follow European soccer Chelsea, AC Milan, Real Madrid (though not lately) and Bayern are mostly successful because they spend money to bring superstars together. Admittedly it doesn't always work out because of competition from others doing similar things, but it's clear you can win championships with superstars. And it's clear you can win championships without them too, so I'm not sure what the point was.

As for missing the point, many posters were replying to what Mogrinn actually stated, but it seems what he actually wrote isn't what he meant, so that's not really their fault.
