am i the only one that supports linehan? at times he is pass happy, but im looking forward to when we have the personnel to run his offense effectively, most importantly, a qb to lead the offense. i think then we will be explosive. it seems like alot of the passing plays we run, are well designed, wether it be flooding a zone coverage, or creating a faviorable matchup for a wr, its not his fault the players do not excecute. i think he is very creative with his play calling, and hope he sticks around for the long haul...

I love Linehan. He just needs a QB here whom he can bring up with his system....**cough...draft one coughcough ***....Leinart..if we can trad eup that high...or whom ever they like...Quinn seems to be the name lately. Just bring in a Young guy with some talent who you can coach up. :D

glad to see im not alone. i do sometimes want to question his abandoning the run, but then i think back to wad/wanny ball, and realize just how lucky we are now

I agree I do like what he is doing but I don't like his play calling when we have first and goal though. Like when he threw the back to back loops into the sun where the WR had a hard time seeing the ball.... But I am happy with him so far.

that was a bit ridiculous. do we know for sure that second attempted fade was called, or could it have been changed by gus at the line or in the huddle

True but I was :fire: :fire: :fire: when I saw that second toss!

He needs to be down on the field like he was against Oakland though. At least for a few games or maybe even permanently. That game was called differently and the players seemed to step up because of it. I think a lot of it was the FTS ("Feed the Studs") thing they did in preparation this week. That's a pretty ingenious concept -- it basically gets ALL the main skilled position players hyped for the game, and it gets the supporting role guys hyped too because THEY wanna be stars too. It also gives you confidence that your coach is calling you a stud, and that's what this offense has been lacking -- confidence.

the offense was a little less predictable this week, but overall its very predictable.

they finally ran chambers on some crossing patterns for the first time all year

so he improved this week, but i still dont like him

i missed that whole studs thing, how did that come about...seems rather obvious

I liked Linehan on Sunday.....he ran a balanced offense and we won....it is not an accident.

looks like he's better making calls on the field than playing madden in the pressbox

Lets allow Lineham and Saban to get their players in here before we start storming ProPlayer with torches and pitchforks. If his playcalling is suspect a year or 2 from now then its time to gather the mob together.

I have been very disappointed in Linehan and I'm not entirely sure why anyone would be satisified with the job he has done so far.

His play calling has been awful (Gus throwing 47 times? GUS? - not to mention the insanity of repeating a game-losing series of mistakes the very next week - Running an offense with such predictable tells as knowing they will pass when both rbs are in? Not good - an unhealthy fascination with reverses, etc.).

Needing a certain type of QB is not a real strength. And if he can't function without that qb, then don't let him call any plays until we get one.

He has to be able to do the best he can with what he has... he hasn't... he has ignored the make-up of the team and made huge mistakes. And repeated them.

Furthermore... the idea that Saban had to bring him onto the field so Saban could supervise him closely, well, that's not a compliment.

Especially when the game Saban does personally get involved is by far the best called game of the year.

All of that said...

I'm not saying he inherently a bad coordinator, I'm saying he hasn't done well here so far. He may get much better very quickly, it may be a bad situation for him, etc.

But I can't praise his work this year and I expected better.

I think his biggest sin to date has been overestimating the quality of the Miami passing game.

Some of the calls that he has been heavily criticised for weren't necessarily bad calls, but badly executed plays. We'd all be giving him love if the plays went for last minute TDs rather than last minute failures.

I think the reverses that have been targetted as examples of bad playcalling have helped in giving RnR a bit more running room.
He's definitely an improvement over the cro-magnon era offence we ran the last few years.
