will not be that bad. The way the NFL is going with rules is making it more and more difficult to be a man-on-man corner. If you look at the Patriots, they won a super bowl with Troy Brown, Assante Samuel and others. None as good as Surtain, but they didn't have to be. Surtain was very important to a Jim Bates defense because of the coverage. By Saban trading him, it leads me to belive that the coverage schemes will change and not be as much man-to-man. This being said, I love Surtain and wouldn't have minded if the fins kept him. The reality is that defenses are becoming great without a shutdown corner.
