Q: What are your impressions of the Miami offense this year?

SURTAIN: “It’s different because you know the system is different, but it’s fairly similar to when Norv (Turner) was there. But the players make the system. Even though the numbers don’t prove it I have tremendous respect for WR Chris Chambers. I think he is a gifted receiver who is under-utilized. I tell guys that all the time I used to go against him every day in practice so I know what kind of receiver the guy is. You can’t sleep on Marty Booker. He is a solid veteran who can get the job done. You have WR David (Boston). WR Wes (Welker), I used to go against Wes everyday in practice last year. He is a terrific receiver. He is quick, tough and been making a lot of plays. We are going to have our work cut out for us, but we will be ready for a challenge.â€Â

Hey, its something other than this week's game time.

The question is, can Gus get these guys the ball at the right time. You've gotta pick on McCleon, he a gambling corner. Gotta get him with double moves.

Class... miss the guy

I know I cannot believe we traded him. Sammy left with free agency but I read we traded Pat. Does not make much sense to me to trade away the guy that led the league in interceptions when you have a secondary with only one proven veteran.

Eh news flash all we have to do is stay away from Pat... Chambers will chew up Warfield or whoever else you have that isnt Pat.

With Surtains comments you really have to wonder on the whole Chambers issue.

Maybe Pat is just blowing smoke but lets say he's not just paying Chambers lip service.

Chambers without a doubt has consistency issues.
Are those issues his fault or a result of the unbelievable lack of talent we've had at the QB position for so many years?

You can make an argument for either side but you have to agree that the Dolphins lack of having a playmaker at QB is certainly a possible reason for Chambers career inconsistency.

Its been 6 years since ive seen a Miami QB hit a reciever in stride with any consistancy...Chambers has been here what 5 ?? Im not sure he becomes Gods gift to recieving with an accurate QB but it sure as hell would make a big difference.

I have to lean to that side of the argument as well.
Hopefully we'll be able to see exactly what chambers would do with a good QB sometime soon!

Actually, I disagree just because I saw Chambers play at Wisconsin and he did the same thing...spectacular catch, spectacular catch, spectacular catch...easy drop. It's a consistency problem. Granted I think it could have been worked out of his system with better QB play and better coaching the last 5 years, but it's still a problem he brought with him from college.
However, I think that we will still see him make great strides this year because he is finally in an offense that helps him work on that flaw in his game. Watch for a late burst of priductivity from him.

Actually, I heard that Dwayne Washington was going to start. And that Sapp was going to play the nickle. Savior Warfield might play the dime though. And since we play a lot of 4 wide (sarcasm), he should see the field often.

edited for spelling

Unfortunately, it was a salary cap issue. I love Pat too and man do I miss him, but we just wouldn't have been able to afford him after this year. That way we got a 2nd round pick for him instead of him getting a huge payday in free agency and we end up with nothing.
