With Ferguson out for the season (DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it pains me to say this...2 of our top 5 players out in 2 weeks) do you guy think we would do better in a 4-3? Here is a quick breakdown:

DT - Rotation with Starks (originally played this at Tenn), McDaniel (originally played this at Jax), Solai, Langford, Merling

DE - Porter, Taylor, Wake, Roth, Anderson, Langford, Merling

ILB - Crowder, Torbor, Ayodele, Wake

OLB - Roth, Taylor, Anderson, Moses, Wake

I tried my best here to make the pieces fit and this is not suppost to be a depth chart. Just and idea of who can play where. If you guys have any ideas of how it would be better please correct me by all means. I did this quickly off the top of my head.

BUT what do you guys think would we be better served with the 4-3?

They'd be foolish no to try.

I'd definitely want to see some variations.

They will not be switching to a 4-3 all this talk needs to stop. Soliai should be back after three weeks of rest, he was taking more snaps than Ferg. Starks will also plit time with Soliai as well as McDaniel. BTW Starks was playing NT on the 3-1 stop by Miami, the guy is just having a tremendous year. If Starks is move inside I expect Merling to take his spot starting with Soliai, McDaniel & Dotson at the backup spots. I dont see Miami signing any Dlineman unless someone is injured.

They need to see what Dotson has, plus why some guy who does not know the system cannot help & will just be riding the bench. The Fins will probably pick up someone who can come in and make a difference.

You guys do realize that we don't play a straight 3-4 but a hybride 3-4/4-3 scheme as most teams do. There are really not straight 3-4 teams in the nfl. Doesn't make sense considering how many offensive packages that are thrown at teams all game.

My guess is they will paly both......prob 60-40 3-4......I dont want starks playing too much nose, we need him fresh late in the game......with our schedule against teams who love to run the ball we have to stop the run, which we didnt do against the panthers, for some reason they felt they had to stop running the ball....Pitt,Tenn and Jacksonville will run it and we have to stop it. Having only one true nose who is nursing injuries is not good, that why we have to give some plays were he is not getting double teamed and thats were the 4-3 comes into play.

I can see us incorporating it. Especially on passing downs, having Starks and Merling (or Langford) as DT's and Wake and Taylor as DE's could work pretty well, but we do that on 3rd and Long anyway.

3-4, though, will almost certainly be our primary D.
