I hope Ajax gets to hear this coaching. He really struggles against the bull rush and this is the technique and philosophy that T-Stead has used to win time after time against defenders.

Part of you wonder how much is technique? Feet, Bend, Leverage etc vs how much of it is functional strength?

Something happened with A.Jackson between his first few games and his last few his first season. It was like watching two completely different players.

Just have him talk for a few hours and play it as an audiobook in AJ’s helmet on repeat.

When he picks up a stunt or two maybe he earns some practice music.

That is the key to this scheme. That's why feet is more important than size, arm length or any of the other things some people here worry about. Now once you get to that spot, you still have to anchor, but if you have the feet to get there and be balanced then you'll be okay most of the time.

Have to love a veteran that is so confident in his own abilities that he will help other players reach their ceiling.

Jackson clearly has talent. He's one of those players who could most benefit from the new offensive line coach.

Oh absolutley agree and why i want him to WIN the RT position. His overall core strenght might be questionable (But that can be fixed in the weight room) but he has all the tools to be a really good one.

Question is does he have the desire and humility(apparently reported he's still pissed about losing LT position) to listen to everything Armstead has to teach and intergrate it?

My brother played Center in FTL in the mid 80s at 5'9 165lbs and was actually very good. Leverage is way more important than people realize for the OL & bad OL technique coaching can really hurt a player at the NFL level.

I'm sure Jackson's core strength improved significantly from his rookie year. Early on I saw that as a clear weakness, but since then the problem was more about confusion. He really wasn't getting beat physically. He just so often seemed lost. That's why I think that for AJ in particular, coaching was far and away the biggest factor.

I also see it helping Gesicki. Gesicki's length and average lateral quickness are limiting factors, but I do think that he has the ability to get to his spot. Doing that alone would make him at least decent as a run blocker. He may never be a dominant run blocker, but being decent would make it difficult for a defense to assume it's not a run just b/c he's in there. And then he's a clear plus receiver.

Ajax has 2 years of pro experience and is still only 21 years old. I think he can turn into a starter at some point. I hope its here in Miami. I don't think he beats out Eich at RT though. More likely IMO that Ajax is LG again this year next to T-Stead.

The left tackle hasn’t been participating in the offseason program because he’s recovering from his surgery, but he’s been seen instructing and guiding some of Miami’s other offensive linemen through technique.

After an OTA session on Tuesday, right guard Robert Hunt took some time to talk about Armstead’s impact on the group.

“Yeah, Terron has helped a lot of our guys out, especially us young guys,” Hunt explained. “He’s out there at practice working with some guys. He’s in the meeting room telling us what we can do, what he’s seen. He’s been doing this for a while so what he says, we definitely take heed and we listen to it because he’s done it. He’s been an All-Pro, he’s been to Pro Bowls, he’s been everything that we want to be in life pretty much. Everything Terron says, we take it in and we listen.”

You dictate where your gonna start the fight so get there quick..

I hate when lineman drift and absorb the contact, it’s like countering as the collision happens as opposed to being the aggressor and getting to that spot first and ready to fight.
