He didn't make in years past. That scramble-bomb to Gray was awesome as was the 39 yarder to Landry. And not to be a wise guy but the bombs to Stills in Seattle (dropped) and Cincy - yeah I know he was wide open but he misses those in his first few seasons. He doesn't miss now. A ton of long ball improvement in the kid. While I cannot get behind our coach yet, I have not criticized Tannehill because I see improvement for the most part. Played a great game today Fwiw.

I thought Tannehill played well today and showed good command of the offense, but I did see one thing from him today that bothered me:

He underthrew a couple of passes that would otherwise be routine for him, and it looked like maybe he tried to gently arc them in instead of rifling them in there. I am not sure if he is trying to put more touch on them to loft them over defenders, or if he's taken such a beating that we've finally broken him.

Something to watch.

I'll give him credit for the rolling to the left bomb as an under throw. That's almost an impossible pass for most qbs.

He's going to have to keep playing this way...or even better for me to think that cutting him still isn't the best move for the Dolphins. Plain in simple, at this point in his career, he still hasn't shown consistency.

That was a great play. I haven't changed my opinion of the player through this season but I again, I gotta say that I was perplexed to see him short hop a couple of balls today. Granted that one of them still should have been caught, but that was unusual.

interesting. I may have been so happy we got these completions I've not noticed what you noticed. I hope to goodness he's not broken down. Need to keep him clean the rest of the year somehow.

I remember one to Landry where he couldn't really give it any mustard because of the defense around his ankles.

I guess, but one of the reasons I have continued to think he's the answer at QB is his tremendous arm talent. I expect him to do better on those throws. For the sake of fairness, I suppose I should add that I expect Landry to catch the damn ball, but I've long since resigned myself to the fact that our QB has to be flawless for this team to perform well on offense most weeks.

If Ajayi can keep this up he won't have to be flawless to win.

Ajayi runs like he wants it. He runs hard.

His ability to throw has gotten so much better. I'll admit that. He's gone from one of the worst deep ball throwers to a guy who is becoming one of the best. His ability to throw has been evident in some bad games this year. Still, his performance overall has shown that there can be so much more to playing QB in the NFL than just throwing ability. There are weaknesses in his game that prevent him from being able to utilize that throwing ability.

I've seen similar games from Tannehill before where he pulls himself from rock bottom to have an impressive performance. Only those performances are usually against bad teams and sometimes it feels like part of why he is succeeding is because of the opponent just playing bad football. But this time it was against a legitimate opponent and he wasn't just throwing bubble screens and slants that were broken, he was finding receivers downfield and creating plays. He was finding open guys near the line of scrimmage but this was through good vision and actually looking off defenders. It was an impressive performance.

That's the only real shorthop I remember and yes it was a pressure one. That's gonna happen to anyone once or twice. Big Ben threw them all day. I can live with that happening every now and then to RT as long as it doesn't happen all game long or key third downs repeatedly.

The late first down on the bootleg, where he could have run for the 1st, was incredible and something you usually don't see from him. That is making a play, not just the minimum, but making extra and the pass was perfect too.

He ran like that last year too in spot duty. I couldn't understand why a guy like that was suddenly being written off by the staff but Williams of the Bills was much more impressive last year and still fell off so who knows? All I can say now is that Ajayi has good vision, elusiveness, and resilience, and showed a surprising burst of top end speed on that last run where most RB's fall off or get caught from behind, especially with so many carries under his belt.

If that ball gets delivered half a second earlier does Landry catch it? It seemed like Landry gets separation just as the ball gets there. Gonna have to watch the All-22 in a couple of days.

I have to say, that play had me cursing as it was unfolding. His execution of the throw was perfect and a type of throw that only a QB who is really feeling it makes to a guy in stride. I'm actually still not sure the risk-reward for trying the throw there merited throwing it though. He had a first on the ground and the clock kept moving. If he misses that throw it gives the Steelers a lot more time and good field position too. If he had missed that it would be just another Tannehill questionable decision in a key game situation.
