So, after watching the Saints game well into the 3rd quarter and then waking up and looking at the Cam's stats this morning, it dawned on me, I honestly think I'd rather have RT than Cam Newton. Maybe its coaching, offensive design, or just the talent around him, but RT just looks better. Statistically, RT is beating Cam in almost every category this year.

So my question to the board is this? Even though Blogs like the NFL.com's QB Index put Cam in the second highest tier of QBs while RT is looked at as a bottom dweller, who would YOU rather have at this point RT or Cam?

No. He's below Newton. I'd rather have Newton if I was forced to pick between the two.

Newton has no weapons (typical Tannehenne excuse)

Newton is having a rough time, he can play better than this. Cam has more talent but Tannehill is having a better year

netwons issue is he doesnt read coverage all that well and the ball sails on him at times...that and he's played thru a ankle injury all season when he should have sat some and not driving thru with his legs on throws as a result...all upper body and arm that deep ball to cotchery that floated should have been a walk in td but he isnt stepping thru his throws and it died in the air...that and he's got 2 meh tackles on the edge and he's not the same level move athlete right now cause he's nicked up

given i think tannehill does a better job of iding coverage and is a similar athlete but doesnt play to contact i would take tanny...ideally newton would have sat for a 3 game span or a month even and healed up...hard to do though

carolinas d is also a shadow of its former self this year

So why does CAM get a pass given its his 4th year in the league and at least his 2nd, if not 3rd season with the current offensive scheme/coordinator when by comparison, this is RT's 3rd season in the league and only the FIRST with this scheme/coordinator? Yet, RT is arguably playing better.

Just curious, what would that make Ryan?

Better than any QB you've had since RT was drafted.

this is not about my QBs, thanks.

Oh really?

Benjamin & Crotchery vs Ted Wallace Jr and this season's version Hartline? Olsen vs Clay? Stewart & Williams vs Miller & Thomas? Newton's rushing vs Tannehill's?

I was watching that game last night and thinking: "in this case, with the throws he was consistently missing by a mile, if wearing orange aqua, FH would be ripping Newton apart!"

From my POV, right now you'd have to take Newton, going into his 4th year vs Tannehill going into his 3rd. It would be close, but still. However, IMO Newton has shown signs of leveling off in potential, and the more he needs to rely on his own running like last night, the faster it will come. An valid argument can be made that Tannehill had done more last season with less than Newton has to work with this season . I also don't think the cerebral firepower necessary to QB once physical skills are neutralized (see Dumbte Culpepper) are comparable either. :idk:

Tannehill OTOH has consistently demonstrated more upward potential, including this season. So over the long haul, I'd certainly take Tannehill over Newton.
