This season, it took Tannehill a not unreasonable three games to digest the new offense and hit his stride. Thus, to get a good measure of where Tannehill is after this season, take a look at his stats over the last 13 games and how they rank at PFF among his peers (QBs who took 60% or more of the season's snaps, not subs who made a splash because defenses were not ready for them).

332 completions out of 466 attempts for a 69% completion rate (Rank: 3)

7.1 YPA (Rank: 15) - This is not dink and dunk, but rather a perfectly respectable average for the WCO hybrid that Lazor has installed.

97.8 QB rating (Rank: 5)

And Tannehill did much of this after Albert went down and his OL fell apart again.

Tannehill has advanced into pretty rarified company this season and is on the cusp of becoming elite.

MIA has their franchise QB.

THIS is why MIA needs to nail Tannehill down to a reasonable contract extension now before all doubt is removed next season.

:hump:

factor in 19 starts in college vs. someone like henne that was a four year starter (48 starts), it was two years into his career before he had that number of games started. i expect him to be a fourth year guy, to really show out.

The team needs to double down and do MORE to help RT next year. Find a quality OG, play Turner at the other guard spot, sign a legit swing OT, get a receiver that has large catch radius, jettison Wallace, but find a speed merchant in the draft, sign Clay back and get a back to share the duties with Miller.

The defense is a mess, but the team cannot forsake the QB. Simply said, there is a remaking of this roster coming in a big way.

The thing is, I honestly believe our offense is very close to being very good. The OL blows, but we don't need great play, just decent play. It can't be that hard to find someone better than Darryn Colledge, it really can't be. Colledge is awful. Pouncey sucked at G. Dallas Thomas and Jason Fox... good Lord...

And then you just replace Hartline with someone who can actually play football. That's it. We don't need to surround RT with 8 All-Pros, just give him competent players to work with. I'm sorry, but Brian Hartline is not competent in this offense and our OL play was actually worse than in 2013 down the stretch.

if they dont protect the kid he will never get to be elite...the kind of contact i've seen in 3 years scrapes shelf life...it's mind boggling that he has played 48 games as a starter...really is

we HAVE TO nip it in the bud...

Absolutely man, I said this in another post that his 4th year is really is 3rd year due to so much inexperience in college when comparing to any other qb that is drafted let alone in the 1st round.

here's the deal too...if we had protected him and mainly albert stayed healthy would have been enough he would have had 30 plus tds and a 95 plus qb rating...this kids fully capable of putting up 35 plus td seasons on average...fully...he's also fully capable of 100 plus qb ratings

but he cant keep getting hit at the rate he has...we are playing a dangerous game...it can only last so long before it breaks

IMHO you go for O line in free agency, draft up a WR and defensive help. Someone mentioned Orlando Franklin...he would be a tremendous add.

No doubt we have our QB. Now we need to give him some help

Absolutely, 139 sacks in 3 years with an avg of 3.80 sec to throw in 2013 and 3.20 to throw this year (from the time he hikes the ball till when he throws) is just flat out ridiculous and just shows how good this kid will be.

I'd say mostly all the qbs in the league would not be able to succeed with that, even the elite ones because they would either be injured or obviously not have anytime to throw which any playoff caliber qb has a ton of time to throw. Yet Thill has progressed significantly each year (which is crazy considering) and had us in line to make playoffs all 3 years. Also, factor in that he had 8 dropped TDs this year and he already hits the numbers you mentioned.

Most fans just look at the QB and are blind to the outside factors that are the most important aspects for any offense to succeed thats why you see so many haters cause they don't know what they're talking about.

Like Ive said a million times all these elite qbs wouldn't be elite behind this oline and prob never talked about they would be good but nowhere near elite in my opinion. Most come into unreal setups the day they get drafted/take the field. Russell Wilson and Big Ben are the first on that list each has always had a easy set up, **** Ben won a Super Bowl with the worst qb rating in the history of the NFL it was like 13.7 or something lol.

Where do you find the dropped touchdowns thing?

I'd like to see what that looks like across the league and historically.

139 sacks in 3 years is a huge number. RT is a tough kid and has shown it.....but I'm tired of talking about the o-line being a problem. Lets fix it once and for all.

I agree with the notion of going FA for the guard (s) spot. There are also some decent receivers in this years draft again......assuming Wallace is still on the roster, we should be pretty close.

Gotta fix that defense though......looking to the draft for that.
