Tannehill sheds a bit of light on Mike Wallace frustrations

"Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill expects, wants Mike Wallace as his go-to receiver in 2015" is the title of the clip and not at all reflective on what tannehill was saying, which like mentioned above, isn't much...

i am losing track of how many times everyone has to dance around this stupid question.

He isn't saying much

Well I think he made it very clear that when things are not going Mike Wallace's way the crap hits the fan in Wallace's world. I seriously don't know what to think anymore about the Dolphins & what transpired with Wallace at the end of the year. Im speculating that perhaps Wallace feels like he could do a lot more and maybe feels the Dolphins don't give those chances. Perfectly understandable to want to be the best & want to be the guy, but that sometimes makes you predictable and could affect the team. Also there are other ways to go about that, no need to have a tantrum mid game or threaten to quit. There is no question the type of player Wallace is or what he brings, the problem is his actions when things don't go his way. Dolphins will have to decide whether they're willing to deal with Mike's actions cause he is a playmaker or if they go another way.

Title of the clip is nothing reflective to what Tannehill said, personally got a completely different impression.

Well what do you think they should do with Wallace? Personally I think we need to move on from him. His "me first, team second" mentality is cancerous to this team and to Tannehill. Wallace needs to take his oversized ego and bitch attitude out of Miami.

It is very evident that Ryan and Wallace are not on the same page. Every time some asks him about Wallace, his replies with... "IF Wallace is back next year."
Now he could say oh he will be back next year but he doesn't. The IF is a calculated response. The hand writing is on the wall the New Franchise QB has had enough.

Wail-ass will be a choir boy next year on a team w a real coach. Tired of Philbin not being able to instill professionalism in the players. See Bully Gate, Vontae Davis, Odrick on the sideline, MW.

Ryan's answer are too calculated . . . and I get it, in the social media age, you have to have calculated answers . . . . but I hardly call this writing on the wall.

The worst thing about his answers are they seem very "Joe Philbinish" and I don't need Joe rubbing off on the teams "chosen one" because Joe is a ****ing idiot.

^^All of what you said would have been even more understandable IF he statistically was having a terrible year. But, the reality he led the team receiving-wise in just about every category and I believe was tied for his high in TD's this year.

His action(assuming they were his) is inexcusable for a leader of the team and receiving corps...INEXCUSABLE!!!

His actions (assume they were his)? This is so overblown man. After the Clay TD, Mike Wallace celebrated with him and then went to the sidelines and told the coaches how he felt and that he was done playing. Just speculate on that for a second (since nobody knows what really happened). Mike was upset because every week they have a gameplan, probably one that involves him more, one that they practice during the week, and something happens on game day to where that doesn't happen, at least as much as it should . . . .and seeing as he is still our most productive WR, I'd say wanting to get him the ball more should be a priority and clearly the way they practice it just isn't happening and he got frustrated. Seems more like passion to me, a player upset at missing the playoffs and wanting the ball so he can do more about it . . . just handled the wrong way. It happens.

To call it INEXCUSABLE is so blown out of proportion. I agree, he definitely should of handled it better, no question, but this is starting to border on stupidity and I blame this social media age because everybody feels entitled to weigh in on situations and demand apologies from a person who they feel did wrong in their eyes. If Mike Wallace came out today, apologized for everything, then it would be excused to a vast majority. So it's not that it's inexcusable . . . it's that people interpret what happened in their own way and the way they interpret, in their eyes, is demanding of an apology. See how quickly inexcusable goes to excusable with a simple "I'm sorry".

Like I said, Mike fell into a trap, because even if he was just upset at the gameplan not being followed, he allowed Philbin to take his words and use them as an action against him. I FULLY believe Mike Wallace had no intentions of "not playing" in the 2nd half, Philbin told him not to play, and honestly, I'm glad he did . . . Mike needed to handle it better. To say he quit is just such an inaccurate statement and I know we have smarter guys on this forum who continue to use that as a crutch to bash Wallace and in a sense toss blame toward him for the lack of connection that him and the QB have on the long ball.

Funny thing is, it was one of the best coaching moves we've seen from Philbin all year . . . not only did we see how pathetic his offense was without the speed on the field and how much disrespect a good defense gave the offense, we gained like 5 draft spots with the loss and a month after the season NOBODY is talking about Joe Philbin. He couldn't of scripted it any better.

I don't think its overblown at all...I've seen tons of games where the top wr isn't involved in the gameplan in the first half and in the second half they dial up things for...and wallace given hartline took his place and had a productive 2nd half would have gotten opportunities had he just been a good soldier about it...what were they going to do anyways throw bubble screens to him in the first half...do your damn job...the gameplan is not on the qb...

As for the clip tannehill said what he should say...he put it on everyone which publicly he should not that he said much or anything really should be taken from it...

His actions caused him to be benched for the 2nd half of a game we needed to win. His actions led to the Jets defense stacking the box on us in the 2nd half and bringing continual pressure on RT and his actions led to this miserable ongoing discussion which will dominate the off season for months to come. His actions were INEXCUSABLE and ANUfan is correct. This also wasn't apparently the first time it happened and that immature, ridiculous press conference solidified his idiocy. Rationalizing what he did is pretty typical......but this is/was a real problem that needs to be addressed. Your comments are stated as opinion....and I accept them as so. However, I don't agree that this should be twisted into some type of Joe Philbin "twisting words" or "trap" for Wallace. It is rationalization at it's worst. Wallace acted like a diva and hurt his team, the fans and his reputation. Time to suck it up, apologize and lets move on. On the apology, the reason you do that is to make sure those you impacted realize you made a mistake. It isn't about excusing....inexcusable behavior. It's about acknowledging you were wrong and will work hard to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Now, with a little luck, the Phins can work through this with Wallace and everyone can calm down and work it out. It would be great to keep Wallace on the field and put another dynamic receiver across from him with Landry in the slot...it would scare the hell out of opposing defenses. I'm not sure if that can happen with what has occurred....but I think that would be the best scenario for all involved.

Great point! I hadnt thought about that. He could`ve apologized for his behavior and move on, pro athletes do that all the time. That would`ve made a big difference IMO...

I don't think Tannehill avoided the question. I think it's clear the team doesn't know if Wallace will be back next year at this point. Once the 2015 off season has begun and the team can gauge if there's value in trading Wallace than it will weigh the options. If they're not getting fair compensation for Wallace than you keep him on the roster and see how things play out. Maybe he gels with the team in 2015 or maybe another team has injuries and is need of a receiver and is willing to make a move. It would seem silly for the team or anyone else involved to come out and say "Wallace will not be back with the team." That would decrease what trade value he has and really serve no purpose.

For the record I think the perfect solution for everybody would be trading Wallace to Tampa for Vincent Jackson. Jackson is a bit older, but is big target and a vet that could work well with Tannehill's growth. A Dolphin receiving corp geared around Jackson, Kevin White, Landry and Clay or Jordan Cameron would look nice. Wallace in Tampa opposite Mike Evans ans Austin Serifin Jenkins would give the Bucss a dangerous size-speed combo. My first choice would be to keep Wallace and try to iron things out.
