Everything I wanted to see from the starting O (at least while Tannehill was in there)

If you forced me to nitpick, On the 3rd and 2 Kyle Miller was wide open on a drag route to the right and it looks like he could have gotten a huge gain. Tanne instead went with the more tested Matthews in traffic in the middle for a short gain and first down (great catch and throw by the way). But on the plus side Matthews is more of a known quantity to Ryan so maybe he was just playing it safe to get the 1st down

7 things I saw while Tannehill was in there:

1) Tannehill made very quick decisions and got the ball out fast
2) Once Lazor got Ryan settled in with some quick hits, he threw downfield and to the middle of the field with success to Matthews (who looked great)
3) Ryan found the open man quickly and did not always check down.
4) The run game pushed the pile a bit and made some decent gains and more importantly 1st downs.
5) The O Line played great while Ryan was in, Satele snapped well and looked good with such a short turnaround time from being picked up, The O line gave Tannehill plenty of time to throw.
6) Nice to see Gibson grab the TD (sure he was wide open but we saw some nice slight of hand on that play design by Lazor, definitely a well designed fake hand off which looked like an inside run)
7) Nice play calling by Lazor with the One's, Get Tannehill comfortable with some easy passes early, get the ball out quick, misdirection, creating opportunity to throw to open guys downfeild, good mix of run pass, Using lamar millers speed in the passing game etc.

The starting D, well that's another story.
Not worried about how well Lobato played as he is camp fodder but I was interested to watch the young guys play on O and D. I liked what I saw from Landry on the return and Darkwa with the limited snaps he got.

Loved the TD to Gibson. Nice disguise on the play. Never saw Sherman call anything like that...

vid isn't working though

Well I don't believe you can Imbed NFL.com Videos on forums. (If you can I dont know exactly how but feel free to teach me)

But the link does work. Tested it on 2 computers :)

It'll be nice if we can get some guys as wide open as Matthews was on that long pass. It's been such a rarity on this team in the last couple years.

The real play I liked there was the big gainer to Matthews. They got him matched up so that a linebacker was stuck trying to cover him... and he's running wide horizontally across the field. You go back and watch Philly last season, you'll see Riley Cooper doing that all over the field, easy pitch and catch from Foles.

That's the one big thing I feel I can take from tonight's game. This offense is not going to be the "Mike Sherman Remix" that some of us feared. Lazor seems to have earnestly tried to take concepts from Chip Kelly to implement here in Miami. You can also see that with the design of the running plays. I love it.

What I was disappointed about is that he "went vanilla" pretty much with the 2's...

Also, there wasn't as much motion as I was expecting...and not very "hurried-up"...

Throwing to wide open guys was the Nick Foles specialty last season, I was hoping, and have seen that Lazor has designed plays that have routes that take advantage of mismatches.

I am taking NOTHING away from Foles, because he executed that Philly offense much better than Vick or Barkley, and that is a credit to him, but yes. I have joked for a while that the Mike Sherman offense was "ask your QB to throw fastballs through six inch slits 45 times a game and hope for the best," and that really is the difference, IMO. Freaking move your players around and give them opportunities to blow open a coverage... that's all I ask.

I'm fine with that. Considering that our "1s" tonight were missing our three top receivers from last season, our "2s" were essentially practice squad players.

I'm definitely more optimistic tonight seeing that our OC really does appear to be moving us in a new, better direction. I can live with losing out on Gary Kubiak if we're going to get what I think we're going to get.

Eh it's a preseason game. Save that stuff for New England in week one.

What I liked was the fake of him always running away from the play. He could have pulled one out there and walked into the endzone. Going to fun watching this offense.
