Tannenbaum: If Ajayi can't pass protect, he won't play

He was talking about all the running backs, not just Ajayi
Mike Tannenbaum, the Dolphins’ vice president/football operations, made clear during a WQAM-560 interview that the running backs must be competent in pass protection, regardless of their running skills. The follow up question was about Ajayi. On fifth-round pick Jay Ajayi, Tannenbaum said: “There are things we like about him, but if he can’t pass protect, he will never be active. I don’t care how talented he is between the tackles. If Jay Ajayi can’t pass protect, he won’t be active.”

wow, how times have changed from being the steal of the draft.

I'll take the heat.....I bet Ray Rice is willing to block. Camp is almost a week old, they know who's a fraud and who isn't.

Ehh too soon to make any moves I think. See how he does in a preseason game.
I've thought about Ray Rice before, some time last year (and took some heat for it too, haha), but that idea increasingly just doesn't sound good to me. Who knows if he's even in football shape? The flak Miami would get for hiring him far outweighs the benefits.

I just think RB wasnt very high on their priority list and that a player they really liked just happened to slip to a point where there was a lot of value in picking him up. I don't think they missed out, they just didn't feel the need... imo

If RB wasn't every high on their list, that was silly. I like Miller a lot as the starter and I like Williams as the backup, but Miller is hitting FA and you don't want to go into next season HAVING to draft a starter or sign one. The last time we were in that position, we drafted Daniel Thomas.
