But Tannenbaum is anxious to start going at it on a full-time basis to help the Dolphins take the next step and get back to the playoffs.

“It’s been great,” Tannenbaum told the Finsiders at the Super Bowl. “It’s kind of been like a soft start here. I’ve been down there a couple of times. Just so impressed with the people, from (President/CEO) Tom Garfinkel and all the people on the business side, and (Head Coach) Joe Philbin and (General Manager) Dennis Hickey on the football side. A lot of good people, and I’m excited just to come in and add to the mix.”
Tannenbaum indicated he spent some time at the Super Bowl talking with representatives of Dolphins players.

The Dolphins have 12 players scheduled to become unrestricted free agents March 10, according to overthecap.com, and a priority over the next few weeks will be evaluating the roster.

“We’ve got to do two things; if we do these two things right, we’re going to be really successful,” Tannenbaum said. “One, we’ve got to correctly evaluate our roster. And what I mean by that, in a cap system some guys are just going to graduate, and when they do, we have to celebrate that. They’ve been coached, they’ve been developed, they’re going to make a lot of money other places. Again, we have to embrace that and celebrate it. With that said, we have to know which ones of our young emerging players could be starters, winning starters, in 2015. That’s job one.

“Job number two, we’ve got to take that core group of guys — 35, 40 players, whatever that number is — (and) we’ve got to get them better in the offseason. (Owner) Steve Ross, his mandate is looking into innovation and anything we can do to get our players better. And that’s a big challenge for us. So when the offseason begins, we’re going to have some really interesting announcements soon of other additions for our staff in terms of just making our players better. And they’re going to feel it. They’re going to feel better. We’re going to give them every resource possible for them to play at a high level and feel good about their bodies.”
“We’ll integrate that into the evaluation process,” Tannenbaum said. “I always feel like when you have that information, that can help make a decision or it’ll make the decision within a context like, hey, here’s what the numbers say, but we’re going to go over here because the player has a compelling production or he has compelling short-area quickness. He may not have the 40-yard dash speed, but that information to me just gives us a better chance over the long term to make the best decision for us.

“Obviously, you need to finish strong in this league. The last couple of years the team was positioned well, (but) didn’t get over the hump. And we’ll look at everything. Is it injury prevention? Anything we think can give us the advantage, how the roster is managed, a lot of those discussions right now interestingly are going on in the NBA. You could look at the Cleveland Cavaliers, they’re constantly talking about LeBron’s minutes. People are just looking at it differently than maybe we did five or 10 years ago. We never heard about Michael Jordan or Larry Bird wanting to come out in the regular season, but maybe they should have. The more information we now have at the professional level, it’s all about giving these players the best chance to be successful over the long season. To LeBron’s credit, I think they’re being very open-minded about it.”

hhhhmmmmmm. he must just be thinking about lazor and Campbell.

I like a lot of what he is saying to be honest, but proof will be in the pudding.

The managing minutes things makes me thing that Wake is going to have his snaps cut.

He can't say he was impressed with certain people, name names, but exclude being/saying he was impressed with Philbin. That would be the equivalent of lighting a bag of poopie and putting it on Philbin's porch. Just one of those things you gotta say.

These offseason quotes are pointless and mean nothing. There is not a chance he would come out and say anything else even if he doesn't believe it (which I doubt he does)

Then using the tried and true George Costanza "It's Always A Better Option To Do The Opposite Of What I Think" philosophy, maybe it's best to fire everyone sooner than later :idk: And then have Ross fire him.

I agree with this. No since in getting all riled up regarding Philbin.

The paragraphs that have any value are at the end when they talk about limiting exposure of our older players and looking beyond base measurables to find talent.

sounds like he's blowing positive rainbow smoke up peoples backsides

What is he going to say "I am not at all impressed with this team, they suck, I am only here for a paycheck". It's the standard B.S. people say, even if they hate they're situation, they make it sound like all rainbows and lollipops to the public.

Should have allowed Mike to hire his own FO and HC.

i almost forget this clowns in the building til you guys bring it back up and turn the knife

"we got to celebrate our graduating players" :bobdole:
