I've watched most of the Dolphins games during Jason Taylor's 10-years here and I'm going on record to say he is the best defensive player this team has ever had. We've had some great ones over the years, Nick Buonticonti, Dick Anderson, Jack Scott, Bob Baumhower, AJ Duhe, Doug Betters, John Offerdahl, Sam Madison, Patrick Surtain, Tim Bowens and Zach Thomas to name a few. But I don't think any of those guys have made as many game changing plays as Taylor has. Yesterday was a signature type game for him as he set the tone for the entire game. How many times have we seen this kind of effort from Taylor despite contant double-teams? It's not just about the sacks and big plays either. He causes the qb to rush his throws, offensive lineman to jump (those 5 yard penalties add up) etc. The guy is incredible and definitely has a shot at the Hall of Fame when he retires. A great, great game for Jason and the Dolphins. Kudos to the whole team on taking down an unbeaten!

I would say JT is the best pass rusher we have ever had and best D-lineman...I still think Zach is the best tackler....but they play different positions. It is hard to compare JT and Zach to the '72 Dolphin's defenders since it was a much different game. The '72 Phins ran the ball all day long and controlled the clock and line of scrimmage....guys were nowhere near as big and fast as JT back then.

JT is the best I've seen since I became a fan in the very late 80's. Of course, I have no idea what guys like bokamper and jake scott were like because I didnt see them play week in and out. I'd be curious to see what people think that have seen the teams from the 70's and early 80's play regularly when they were growing up. But for me, its JT (and you can include Zach into that category).

We are all lucky to witness the two greatest defensive players in Dolphins history at the same time, Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor. I'd still give Zach Thomas the edge (even though its apples and oranges), but the way Jason Taylor can take control of the whole game as a DE is amazing.

100% correct!

I think Jason Taylor is the best defensive player in the history of this franchise and I think if he carries on apace - he shows no signs of slowing down - then he's a likely Hall of Famer.

Jason Taylor is the best defender, I've seen in a dolphin uniform, and I 've watched the dolphins since '76. But, Zach Thomas is not even top 10, get real.

There is no question in my mind JT is the greatest defender in phins history. The only Dolphin I have admired more is Marino.

JT is on pace to catch Trace Armstrong by the end of the year... and become the dolphins all-time-sack leader. JT is the 20th all-time sack leader.

I'd rather have Zach than JT, but that's my own personal preference. Zach is the NFL's #2 All-time leading tackler... trailing only Junior Seau. Maybe next year, he'll pass Seau.

100 sacks now, and the guy just refuses to quit on the pass rush. There's something wrong with the writers if they can't put this guy in the hall. Hands down the best defense player for the Dolphins ever.

I think you have to out-sack Derrick Thomas to make the Hall.

i think taylor has 50+ sacks left in him. he's an amazing player.

The amazing part to me is that in so late in his career he took on more duties and had a huge change in his position and now it is totally looking he is really taking to it. Hopefully moving him around more will extend his career.

off topic...anyone see matt roths sick block on the bears offensive lineman on jt's int for a td???? he wrecked the guy big time
