I can't wait to see these two play opposite to eachother, they'll be giving the QBs very little time if Roth is as quick and strong as I've heard, I hope its a big change from having DBo last year

Why are you guys given Roth so much props? You still have D. Bowens, who's a motor himself, just as fiece and tenacious. You have Carter, still a dominant DE as well as Great DT pass rusher, and V. Holliday. I hope Roth contributes, but this is not college, he's not going to walk onto the field and be like he was in college. If he was that great, he would have went in the first round.

Kevin Carter will be playing 75-80% of his snaps at DT.

Vonnie Holliday is a situational pass rusher.

David Bowens? He will be restructured or cut.

Matt Roth will make an impact.

Think before you speak.

Tell me this: when Holliday is on the field for passing downs, and JT is opposite of him, where is Roth???

On the bench..... ;)

Roth will make an impact........eventually. Don't get your hopes up too high for his rookie year.

Patience. He will pay off in the long run.

Reading some of these threads after he was drafted really gets you hopes up that he is going to come in here and be a great player. You hear about the 7 guys he fought in a bar, the facemask that he ripped from Gallery's head, and the LT in pratice that passed out when he lines up accross from him. Its hard to read this stuff and not get your hopes up about this guy. The thing he will have working for him is that he will almost always be man on man with JT getting doubled. You know that all through college he was the man doubled, just for that reason, I think he could very well become a big impact player. Not to mention if he does get to the QB, I fear for his life. Especially the 1st QB he get his hands on.:shakeno: it could be ugly. Hopefully its Brady.:D

rookies rarely start.
i think Roth will see just under half of the defensive snaps. a few sacks (4) and a few tackles (15).

but i really dont see roth starting this season, unless there is an injury.

I did and until we see how everyone's going to be used and what's the situation with D. Bowen, this is the current situation. When things change, then I'll change my opinion..or am I speaking to Saban. In that case, sorry.

Taylor said that Roth reminded him alot of himself...having the same motor and everything.

Everyones raving about Roth with the pass rush. Im interested what he can do against the run. anybody?

Living in Iowa and watching Matt Roth play every snap he has all the tools to play in the NFL and at a Pro Bowl level. I just hope people don't expect a pro bowl season out him this year. He will have a lot to learn this year and he will be up to the challenge. Must remember Roth has only played DE for three years. Before that in highschool and his first year at Iowa he was a LB. He will bust his butt on everyplay and won't take playes off like some other big name players. He will leave everything on the field and lives to make the big play and play with LOTS of emotion. Give him a couple of years and he will be a great DE, but he will need to learn the in's and out's and I know he is looking forward to JT showing him the ropes. Miami has a good one we just need to give Matt a couple of years to get where we want him to be. In the mean time he will be a lot of fun to watch play because he doesn't take crap from anyone.

I think he will make an impact this year. No Pro Bowl, but he will get between 6-9 sacks, and that will help. Plus JT will jump back up in sacks as well.

vonnie's situation is he sucks... or at least he did the last 3 years... a rookie beat him last year... i'm sure roth can beat him this year.
