It was going somewhere when he arrived. The Dolphins were 11-5 and surprise division champions under Tony Sparano in 2008. What followed was a stretch in which they were mired in mediocrity, twice going 7-9, a 6-10 (during which Sparano was replaced by interim coach Todd Bowles) and finally 7-9 in 2012, this time under Joe Philbin.

Over that period, other free agents the Dolphins lost include running backs Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams and Reggie Bush; safety Yeremiah Bell; cornerback Sean Smith; and tackle Jake Long.

Philbin didn't help, but that team was dead before they hired him. He just maintained the decaying process.

... good quote from the guy who's coming back to Tannehill.

But if you're to believe some others who til the day Philbin was thankfully pink slipped, thought he was an above average coach whose problem was being saddled by an inferior QB, Anthony's sentiments would be incomprehensible. :idk:

Not digging the return of Fasano. Dude gets no YAC. I keep forgetting Miami re-signed him.

People keep forgetting why we re-signed Fasano. Check the stats. The guy was rated the best blocking tight end last year. He won't be counted on much besides that. Julius Thomas is going to be the pass catching TE.

Yep. And good thing there wont be any tells from our TE alignments . . .

:foundout:

I doubt Fasano ends with more than 20 or 25 receptions, so his lack of yac won't be important. He's here to block and provide vet leadership. I wouldn't be suprised if by the time the regular season roles around Fasano isn't even the primary blocking tight end on the roster. I think he's the fall back if they can't find a two-way tight end to team with Thomas.

Fasano is back to help with run blocking and pass protection. I think we all remember he can score TDs down near the goal line. Just like Sims. Not asking for anything more.

Fasano had 8 receptions on 533 snap counts last year. He's pretty much a third tackle.

Yeah well, just help protect an O-line that will probably be decimated about Wk. 10. Grab a couple short yardage TDs, and he's earned his $$

Hmmm

Anthony Fasano 11 years in league, 35 receiving TDs = 3.2 TDs / year
Devante Parker 2 years in league, 7 receiving TDs = 3.5 TDs / year
Jarvis Landry 3 years in league, 13 receiving TDs = 4.3 TDs / year

Fasano doesn't catch the ball much, but he averages pretty close in TD production to 2 of our top 3 receivers.

amazing how much lunacy can affect a large portion of a group(in this case the board) despite what blatant facts are in front of them right? Philbin couldn't have been a worse or more cancerous coach, yet people clung to him like he was amazing forever when all he did was wreck the team since he got here. It's not this obvious thing, its all these other things!

Im sure also that since we didnt offer that kind of money to keep a guy who was averaging 8 yards a catch was also a factor lol
