Long time read, first time poster. Hailing from NJ, I've dealt with my fair share of criticism from annoying Jet fans and I'm so happy with the win yesterday. It's unfortunate we're 2-3 and we could have easily been 4-1, 3-2, etc. but the fact is we're not but we're still in the thick of things. Heading into the bye week we know a lot about our football team.

QB: Chad Henne looked like Chad Pennington with a terminator arm last night. I wouldn't get overly excited about him yet but I thought we did a great job of calling plays to put him in a position to be successful. To Henne's credit he made some plays our there. I think we all got a +1 in confidence in him. I still like Thigpen trade because he is a pretty solid QB too who is also big and mobile. If things do fail with Henne he is a solid #2 option.

Grade: B

RB: #1 running game in NFL enough said. Ronnie might be the best RB at taking what his blockers give him. He is such a patient and crafty runner. Ricky must be doing some serious yoga because he is looking refreshed. I'm not sure I've ever seen him look so big and quick. One thing I get nervous about with both Ricky and Ronnie is sometimes they are careless with the football and are prone to fumble.

Grade: A+

WR: So we don't have that true #1 or that guy we can throw the flag pattern to but this group has been solid. Other than Ginn no one has dropped the football and we've seen them come up with plays. Camarillo has quietly come back into the mix and he is very sure handed. My favorite is Bess it just seems like anytime we need a catch he manages to get open. We still need more out of this group but so far they've been about par.

Grade: C+

TE: Fassano and Hannos haven't exactly been involved with things offensively and when they have been they've been poor. Blocking they've been solid you can't have the #1 run game without them blocking so we'll give credit there but we need to get more out of these guys. We miss David Martin.

Grade: C

O-Line: They got off to shaky start but have steadily improved on a weekly basis and are looking better than I have remembered in a long time. They are consistently getting the push at the line, protecting the QB, opening holes for the run, they do a great job on schemes and pulling off the line. Justin Smiley has really done an excellent job this year on getting downfield and blocking. Vernon Carey looks so much more comfortable playing in his natural position, Grove, and Long are doing their thing too. These guys seem to be very prideful in what they do.

Grade: A

Defensive Line: So we've looked solid against the run but our pass rush hasn't been there. I haven't heard the names Joey Porter or Jason Taylor nearly enough. We need to put more pressure on the QB in order to help our anemic secondary out otherwise teams are going to continue to pass on us all day everyday.

Grade: B-

Secondary: This is our kryptonite this season. I like Sean Smith and Vontae Davis a lot but they aren't polished enough quite yet. I would like to see Davis play more and get him more experience. Will Allen seems to have more theatrical skills than he does football. He dances and waives his arms any decent play he makes but he gets burnt a ton. Gibril Wilson has been a step slow all season and has also been a piss poor tackler. I've always wanted to see Bell get more time but he doesn't look like the same player as he was pre-injury. This is going to be a glaring problem for us. We need these guys to start gelling like a unit and one or two guys to step up big as individuals but I just don't see that happening.

Grade: D+

Special Teams: Well our kicking has been solid but other than that we've been lackluster for special teams. Nothing particularly bad but nothing well either. It would be nice to see us get better field position with some nice returns but we haven't been netting anything. As quick as Bess looks in the slot he looks slow returning punts. Hopefully this improves as the season goes on.

Grade: C+

If you can give the WR an "A+" and the RB a "B", I see no point of reading your post any further.

Perhaps you do need to read further because WR got a C+....the grades are below each position.

I think we're a good team but we need work in a lot of areas.

Here's my assessment. Pennington got us respect. Henne is taking us to the dance (eventually).

0-3 w/ Penny starting
2-0 w/ Henne -will wait to see how he does in NY and NE on the road. If he does well there, I am convinced he is our QB for a long long time.

Bowe would complete our offense, honestly what would we be missing on offense if we got him? Henne looks great thus far, the run game is tops, the wildcat is undefendable, bowe would give us great WR group, the o-line is beastly, and with Bowe less pressure would be on the TE's and they could get open. thats our offense and its a damn good one.

Has it been reported that the Chiefs are shopping Bowe? I've seen his name mentioned here but why would they get rid of him?

Yes, there have been reports that KC is willing to trade anyone but Cassel or a DE i forget the name, for the right price. they know their franchise needs picks, u dont build a team up through a WR its not how it works. we built it up right, u get the Franchise QB (they think they have hm) and ur Lines built, then u solidify ur LB and S and then get that final playmaking piece in a WR, they have many many holes and are years away from even coming close to competing, Bowe wants out or will want out soon for obvious reasons and if they can get 4 players, 2 pick and 2 players then idk why they wouldnt do it, I dont think even if they franchise him for 2 years after his contract that he will be there in time for them to put a real team together..

can someone tell me one hole we would have on Offense if we made a move like this.

I don't think getting Bowe solves our problems though. We'd still be shotty defensively and there is no need to empty out the cabinet to go for it all. We're not the Jets :)

If we were 4-1 there might be more incentive but there isn't. Getting Thigpen was necessary but getting Bowe isn't.

Why did you lump the LB's in with the D-line? When you mentioned the D-line, you only discussed Porter and Taylor (not D-linemen).

I'd give Henne a B+/A-. His performance against the Jets warrants a strong A. I do agree that our secondary is our weak link. The rookies, though, have been our two best players so far.

I want to see the WR's play some more with Henne, but for the season, I couldn't give them anything better than a D+.

If emptying out our cabniet consists of camarillo, roth, and a 2nd.... then we have other problems lmaoo.. but honestly, we are one game back, we have shown we can handle the jets and the bills, we can also beat the pats as the jets have beat them (ik the logic isnt too good but u get the drift) and we are only one game back. we are by no means out at all, were we out last yar at 2-4? noo lol

so getting him for our offense would not only help us this year but for many many years to come. We have our o-line set, a young QB who looks amazing (130 QB passer rating last game vs one of the best defenses suposedly), 2 3yr WR's, a 2 yr WR, and 2 Rookies (still very solid). Ronnie and Ricky anchoring us and Fasano who is pretty good TE and a great blocker.

Our D-line is pretty set, we could draft a MLB in the first (Mcclain or Spikes), our CB's will be lockdowns in the future, and if Wilson could step it up (11 tackles last game and 1 on ST) along with clemons....

Good point yea I did lump everyone together. Ooops.

I think our line has been solid especially against the run but our pressure on the QB just isn't there.

In terms of LB's that is a different monster and I haven't been impressed. Taylor makes a lot of plays that go unnoticed. A few times he dropped off his rush to play the back out of the flat and his presence made Sanchez think twice and caused a few errant throws. Overall though on the season what has Joey Porter done? Crowder? Are our linebackers falling back more into coverage due to our weak secondary? Do we need to give Wake more playing time? I'm not sure what the problem is but I do think there is something wrong there.

Ehh I just don't know. I'd rather have what you said than Bowe. Also I think New England is going to give us fits. We couldn't cover Braylon Edwards or even Dallas Clark for that matter what makes you think we lock down Moss and Welker? Sure we can beat them but I wouldn't call it a sure thing. We need to play perfect to beat them.

I don't think this is our year to make a big run. I think we can try our best with the crew that we have but I think another year in the draft and maybe a splash or two in free agency then we go to war. Patience.

idk, i want a young proven #1 WR, namely Bowe, and i do not want them from the draft, that means no dez bryant, its just way too risky, ik everyone is a risk but WR in the 1sts are usually booms or busts, nothin in between, i want mcclain or berry, then sign wilfork in my wildest dreams and trade porter for another 2nd.. then use the 2 seconds on LB or S if we dont get Berry or Mays... maybe even use a 2nd on a TE if Gresham is there..
