So who do you guys think it is? I'm going with Chad we wouldnt be anywhere close to where we are without him, and the fact that he wasnt even here at all during training camp just goes to show what a great pickup he was. He's my MVP up until this point for sure, and i expect him to be officially awarded MVP for the Dolphins 08-09 team by Parcells and co.

If porter breaks the sack record, there will be no doubt

Would be nice to see that happen but IMO even with the teams we're gonna be facing its rather unlikely due to inconsistancies. Yeah i got my flamesuit on, i'm ready for ya!

Unlikely, no but neither is it likely. He is halfway there and he has played the most difficult part of his season ALREADY. Even if he breakes the dolphin sack record (likely) he becomes the MVP for us

You have a point, but even if he does set the record i still think Penny's VALUE is higher for the sake that he is just more involved. Porter is primarily a pass rusher. Chad does so much more for our franchise, especially considering that he's had to learn everything on the fly.

pennington's leadership affected everyone, porter's does too..
but we're a 5 win team with henne or mccown...
porter wouldn't have trusted mcown as much and therefore have much less sacks..

pennington will win team MVP, and Joey Porter will win DMVP for the league...
fine by me..

Season's just past halfway and your ready to proclaim our MVP? Heck, he might not even be on the team yet.

I dont know what to say- are you really saying that porter could win defensive most valuable player for the LEAGUE and say he wouldnt win MVP for the team?

I am speachless- really

And to say that he would do any different on defense if we had Henne starting is one of the largest stretches i have ever read-anywhere.
:clapping:

Yeah the only way i see him being a candidate DMVP for the league is if he breaks the league record, which is 22 1/2. Thats roughley 2 sacks a game for every game comming up. Not saying its impossible, but even if he does get that in all honesty i dont think it is as vital to this team's success as Pennington has been.

Pennington gives us respect, and i know how everyone on this site just doesnt like the idea of him being here but i for one am greatful. He has had more impact IMO than any other player on our team, and he's had to fight an uphill battle against everything and everyone since he got here. Not only that, but he is one of hte best possible mentors we could have for a guy like Henne and Beck as well.

I am glad we have pennington, but there is no way around it- if porter breaks MIAMIS sack record (what is it 17?) he is miamis MVP- bank on it. If you think about it, that means no one ever, not even during miamis perfect season, not even during JTs heyday has ANYONE ever sacked more qbs here on this team. EVEN with the team record they will have to acknowledge it bigtime.

Yeah they will definatley acknowledge it, but i'm saying that it should not overshadow the GREATER, and yes i said greater contributions of somone like Chad.

I'm sorry but in my book records dont mean squat. Look at Danny he had all the records you could want at one point, and he even said he'd throw them all away for a SB ring.

Wins > Records.

Our success is a greater reflection of Chad's play rather than Porters ability to get after a quarterback. I"m not taking anything away from Joey, but LB's dont lead teams to the superbowl never have and they never will.
