First round draft pick (ninth overall selection) by the Dolphins in the 2007 college draft.

PRO
2007 - For the season finished tied for third on the team in receptions and second in reception yardage with 34 catches for 420 yards and two touchdowns along with four rushes for three yards ... His reception and reception yardage totals are the most by a Dolphin rookie since 2002 when tight end Randy McMichael had 39 catches for 485 yards ... It is the most by a Dolphin rookie wide receiver since Chris Chambers had 48 catches for 883 yards in 2001 ... Ginn also has 24 punt returns for 230 yards and one touchdown, an average of 9.6 yards per return and has 63 kickoff returns for 1433 yards, an average of 22.7 yards per return ... Finished ranked fourth in the AFC and sixth in the NFL in punt returns ...

COMBINED YARDAGE: Ginn has gained 2,086 combined rushing, receiving, and return yards this season ... That total is the most-ever by a Dolphins rookie ...

GAME HIGHLIGHTS -- V
AT PHILADELPHIA (NOV. 18): had three punt returns for 99 yards and one touchdown ... The touchdown came when he returned a Sav Rocca punt 87 yards for a TD ... It was tied for the longest punt return in Dolphin history, along with an 87-yard touchdown return by Tom Vigorito on September 10, 1981 vs. Pittsburgh ... It was the first punt return for a touchdown by the Dolphins since October 29, 2000 when Jeff Ogden returned a punt 81 yards for a touchdown vs. Green Bay ... The Dolphins played in 113 regular season games and had 272 punt returns in between those two returns for touchdowns ...

Very nice research.

Now I'm going to crap all over it.

1663 of his total yards were return yards, and well, most returners avg at least 1300-1400 yards as long as they catch the ball and run forward. Granted, his total return yards should have been closer to about 1800, but thanks to holding calls they were negated.

That being said, I love Ted Ginn, I'm glad he's here. I think he can be a great WR.

And you can throw in that he didn't play that much when chris chambers was on the team. So that prevented some more catches as well. The first 5 games he didn't start so take that into account and you could easily give him another 7-12 catches and 210-369 yards. Also look at his stats when beck was Qb, he averaged 4 catches a game. I believe he will be better than chambers.

Yeah not bad numbers for someone who started behind Chambers & Booker. Obviously his numbers are higher if he started at WR1 or WR2, but still not bad for a rookie. Most Rookie WR's don't even beak out untill their third year, yet I believe he's going to go off this year, no matter who's at the helm. For 3 reasons - 1. an improved O-line, 2. a great running game (to keep the D honest) & 3. a more experienced QB (Beck or McCown) who will have time to develop some chemistry w/Ginn.

Go Fins.

The combined record yardage for a rookie sounds great until you realize
that John Avery held that record and did not return punts or start one game
his rookie season. Chris Chambers broke that record starting only 7 games and not returning punts. Its a solid job by a rookie but really not much of a record when you are the punt returner, kick returner and starting receiver for 9 games.

u forgot to mention his family in the post! Dont ya remember what cam said when we drafted him " were gonna love ted ginn and his family"

I don't know that he'll get 1000 yards but I think he's gonna have a fine year...Beck to Ginn sounds good to me....he could also take it to the house a few times this season with better ST's that we should have now.

Ozzy rules!!

Bingo!!

Our special teams will be much improved this year, ginn will find a big improvement in that department this year, if he had 1 pluse 2 called back TD on ST last year, I can't wait to see what he can do this year.

We have the weapon, Parcells is building the ST army around him. This will be good for the Dolphins.

Even the Ginn hater's have to admidt he got better every game. With his dedication in the offseason I expect continued improvement.
