This may seem like a silly question, but im going to ask it anyways because I really have no clue. Ever since we drafted Ted Ginn the main thing that we have heard about is how he will be a great punt returner and could be a good WR, but noone has ever mentioned kick returner. Is that because it is assumed that a good punt returner=a good kick returner, or is he not going to be a kick returner?

I'm assuming he will be our Kick returner possibly along with Kelly campbell if he makes the team or Lerenzo Booker. Might as well get all we can out of out top pick.

I think his main purpose here for now is PR/KR. I think he will be lining up as WR too.

Most coach always refer to returnmen as either a kick returner or punt returner.

Essentially, they mean both.

For example, Saban always referred to Welker as a "kick returner and receiver"

Well, he ran back punts as well, unfortunately!

he will play more wr in his 2nd year and could become a go to guy like steve smith, who also started as a return guy in his 1st season! :cooldude:

Then were good to go.

This should be an exciting year, for ST.

Something about this post really excites me. We haven't seen this kind of speed here for a LONG time. We have some absolute burners on offense and will only make our offense better. Ginn will be returning every kick this year while lining up as the 3rd or 4th WR on offense. He will be eased into playing wide out because rookie WRs don't contribute that often on offense.

You can go ahead and chalk this one down - Ted Ginn will be one of the top three return men as a rookie and a possible pro bowl selection.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if he went to the pro-bowl as a return man. You can chalk it up that he will give us at least 1 special teams TD this year.

Its quite possible especially with Adam jones suspended. he does have some major competition in Justin Miller and Jones drew as kick returners and Roscoe parrish and Dennis Northcutt as punt returners. I don't think he will necessarily be head and shoulders above any of them and if he is top 10 in the league in both we should be very happy. Speed is quite overrated in the return game. Steptoe of arizona was probably the best in the country in college last year and only had 4.5 speed. Allen rossum is easily one of the NFl's fastest men and is faster than devin hester but seems along ways from being as good as him.
